Waukon's Old Barn adds a unique
twist to the racing, which is something
the series tries to add at each venue
|
Another part of the series’ appeal is the
variety in the tracks that the series travels to.
There is a different track for each of the seven
races and the terrain consists of open fields, woods,
mud, rocks, and a little MX. One track, Coyote Hill
at Waukon, IA even has the racers make their way
through an old barn. “We try to give each
track something for racers to remember it by. At
Coyote Hill they always remember the barn!”
Kyner chuckled. The track variety is just one reason
two-time AA class series champion, Michael Burrows
races the IATVHSS. “The tracks here are more
like the tracks at nationals and the officials here
are really good also. It’s really well organized
and run more like a national race.” Stated
Burrows, who is from MO.

Duane Johnson & #171 Michael Burrows
are two fastest AA racers in the series
as they battle back and forth at each round
of the IATVHSS, and they are also Pro Racers
in the GNCC Series
|
2007 AA class points leader Duane Johnson, also
from MO, has been racing the IATVHSS for the past
four years. “I also race in GNCC, and these
tracks are really good practice for those types
of races.” Stated Johnson. “Plus,
Andy is a great guy and tries to do everything
he can for us.” The word has certainly been
spread about Kyner’s dedication to helping
the local racing community. Attendance at his
events has increased steadily over the four years
the series has been in existence. “When
the series started there were an average of 140
racers per event. Last year there were about 180
racers and this year, it has jumped to about 250
series regulars.” Stated Kyner. Andy anticipates
steady increases in attendance in the next few
years.

IATVHSS
has classes for everyone including the very
popular utility class, which attracts a
large number of entries |
The
top three riders in every class is invited
onto the Podium to receive a plaque with
each of them interviewed about the race |
|
Special
thanks to Monica Chance for providing Race
Coverage from each event, and she is also
the one behind the keyboard for all the
live race coverage from the Nationals almost
every weekend when she isn't at the IATVHSS |
There are also a wide variety of racers that
attended the series. They range in age from 4
to 71 years of age and come from all different
skill levels. Luckily, the IATVHSS has plenty of
classes to accommodate racers of all types. Since
the series is a strong supporter of kids and women
who want to race, it makes the series very family
friendly and offers a supportive environment for
beginning racers.
The last race of the season will be held on October
7th at Fun Valley in Montezuma, IA, followed by
the series awards ceremony. You can get more information
on this series by checking out the IATVHSS web site
at www.iatvhss.com.
