#603 Josh Frederick Won the WORCS Pro ATV
Championship & finished an impressive
3rd in the Quadcross series |
Lawson and Smith swapped positions a couple of times
before Smith was able to make the pass stick. “Jeremy
is a good rider and we were battling pretty hard,
but I finally was able to get around him and put
a little distance between us,” Smith said.
Smith soon went after fellow Can-Am/Motoworks racer
Josh Frederick, and after applying some pressure,
Smith took over the lead and checked out, while
Lawson also made the pass on Frederick to take over
second place. Frederick would eventually fall back
to 5th place behind Dustin Nelson and Justin Noss
before crossing the finish line.
“It felt really great to end the season
with a win,” said Brandon excitedly. “It’s
been a great year and I’ve really had a
lot of fun, but I will be moving to Florida and
teaming up with Jeremy Lawson to race the AMA
ATV MX Nationals for 2009. I’m really excited
about being able to race Nationals. We’ve
got great mechanics lined up for next year and
we’ll be training really hard so I can come
out there and do my best,” stated Smith
who walked away with second in the ITP Quadcross
Pro points race.

WORCS Champion, Josh Frederick ended his season
with third in the points race, while Yamaha rider
Justin Noss, who has certainly made his mark this
year, claimed fourth for the year and Quadcross
newcomer, Jesse Goss, rounds out the top five
in the points race for 2008. Justin Noss also
claimed the championship in the new 250 Mod Pro-am
class this year and was awarded a brand new Yamaha
Raptor 250 for his efforts.
In the Open Pro class, Doug Eichner gave it his
all. In the first moto Doug grabbed the holeshot
with Jeremie Warnia on his tail. The pair were
close and Warnia made the pass on Eichner, but
pulled off the track, allowing Eichner to take
the win.
In moto two, Warnia and Eichner were close once
again, but this time it was Warnia who came out
victorious. Warnia crossed the finish line 20 seconds
ahead of second place Eichner, but Warnia’s
efforts were futile as he was disqualified from
the Open Pro class and the win was awarded to Eichner,
but the results are still in dispute over Warnia’s
disqualification since he raced two different DS450
ATVs in the Open Pro & Pro class and a tear
down wasn’t done on either to determine if
engine displacement. Despite the DQ, Warnia was
still in good spirits and is looking forward to
possibly racing the series full time next season
with the Can-Am/Motoworks team.
