Star, NC (9/19/2014) – The Hellbound Racing New Extreme Dirt Track series headed to Star, North Carolina to Black Ankle raceway for the final rounds of the 2014 season on September 13, 2014. Brad Riley took top honors in the NE EDT Pro Class followed by Aaron Medlin who finished second and Michael Houghton in third.

Almost every local and national weather forecaster was calling for a long wet weekend so a lot of tough decisions had to be made for a lot of racers before the event even started on whether to make the long trip or stay home. Rain has been the theme for 2014 for every race series this summer, so the forecast calling for rain wasn’t anything new and sometimes you just don’t know what Mother Nature really has planned. By 10am Saturday the rain had stopped and the racers who made the trip where greeted by the blazing sun and partly cloudy skies and a slight breeze so we knew the track would come in quick. With the southern red clay and all the rain it turned the track into a speedway, which would make for some of the best track conditions and racing of the season.

The Pro-Am class was up first. Brad Riley had locked in the NE EDT Pro-Am championship in New York, but with the 2013 Pro NE EDT Champion Brian Ace unable to make the long trip from Pennsylvania for this round opened up the door for Aaron Medlin and Michael Houghton Jr. for the 2nd and 3rd place overall points championship for 2014.

As the race took off it was none other than the 2014 Pro-Lite NE EDT Champion Jason Fisher out of Pennsylvania who made a bold statement that he was ready to take on the top series riders next season as he captured the Macken Sewage Holeshot Award.

Brad Riley put his head down quick to make his way around Fisher, who ended up dropping back quickly after a few laps due to mechanical issues. As the riders crossed the line for lap one, Riley was the leader, followed by Fisher, Kristopher Bures, Brooks Williams, and Aaron Medlin to round out the top five. Houghton got off to a slow start as he fell to the back of the pack as he needed to go to work if he wanted to finish out the Pro-Am season on a strong note.

As the race got through the first half, Medlin was able to make his way through the pack to the second spot as Williams and Bures continued to battle for third place and the final podium spot.

With about five laps to go Houghton had moved all the way up to join the battle for the third place spot with Bures and Williams which allowed Riley and Medlin to pull away from the pack as the race was coming to a close.
