NE EDT Racing Round
6 UTV Race Report
::Continued::
Mills continually tried the inside option lane which contained two roller-jumps and a big off-camber, trying to get an edge on Pope. Mills was eventually able to get around Pope and charged hard for the remainder of the race to finish in third place on the podium.

Kris Callahan earned the win in the UTV 900cc Production class in style by capturing the holeshot at Busco Beach
|
In the UTV 900cc Production class, Callahan Waterproofing and Construction’s Kris Callahan grabbed the class by the reigns and took control immediately by grabbing the holeshot and continued onto the early lead. Callahan hammered down for the remaining laps of the contest and brought home the win. Kinda Tires’ Jay Person came off the line, just behind Callahan and was able to remain in this position, going uncontested for the rest of the race to being home second place. Capitol Cycle Company’s Madison Lassiter was able to take advantage of a few mistakes by Madeline Cox and turned her fourth place starting position into a third place podium for herself by the end of the race.

Bucky Gardner lifts his NC Powersport's Polaris RZR front end on the way to the win in the UTV Production Class
|
The UTV Production class got off to a wild start
as NC Powersport’s Bucky Gardner had a fender
bender heading into the first turn and had his
rear bumper dislodged as he and Sunshine Tan’s
Connor Wood raced into the first corner neck and
neck. Gardner was able to make a pass on Wood
as the first lap was completed as they both chose
different option lanes. Gardner’s unfortunate
bumper-smashing didn’t slow him down however
as he soared over the jumps of Busco Beach and
remained in the lead, crossing the finish line
in first place. Kris Callahan got off to a decent
mid-pack fourth place start but had the track
dialed in and was able to make his way around
Wood as he spun out and then around Thomas Blanton
to take over second place before the end of the
contest. Bark Delivered Inc.’s Thomas Blanton,
piloting a brand-new 60th Anniversary Yamaha YXZ
1000 was able to get a good start in third place
and was also able to take advantage of Wood’s
spin out to take over second place. He then battled
with Callahan for the spot but was bumped back
to third place by the finish of the race, landing
on the podium with a solid finish.
The Next round of the ECUTV / GORS series will head to Hamlin, PA on September 23rd! Be sure to come check out the racing action at the last and final round of the season!
