Joe Haavisto claimed both Moto wins, but
they didn't come easy as he had to pass
his way to the front in both Motos |
In the Open Pro-am class, Joe Haavisto continued
to dominate. Although it was DRT Motorsport’s
Michael Pilotte who grabbed both Open Pro-am holeshots,
Haavisto came on strong. Once Haavisto made the
pass on Pilotte in moto one, he began to pull
away, gradually increasing his lead with every
lap. The second moto was almost a repeat for Haavisto
as he once again took second in the holeshot behind
Pilotte, but this time Pilotte put up a good fight,
swapping positions a couple of times before Haavisto
could make it stick and take over the lead. Haavisto
ended his day with a 1-1 finish, which put him
on top of the podium in the Pro-am class.

DRT
Motorsport's Michael Pillote pulled 3
out of 4 Holeshots this weekend &
he secured a 2nd overall in the Open Pro-Am
class behind Haavisto |
Michael Pilotte again was off to a great start
in the first Pro-am moto as he grabbed the holeshot,
but shortly into the first moto, Joe Haavisto
was able to make the pass and Pilotte would have
to settle for second. In moto two, Pilotte again
was the leader off the line and gave Haavisto
quite a battle. “Joe and I went back and
forth several times. It was a really good battle,”
said Pilotte. Although eh would finish his moto
in second place once again, he had a very impressive
lead over third place Jamin Plante.
Plante was in the top five off the line and
rode a solid race in the first moto to take
a fourth place finish. In the second moto, Plante
again was off to a good start. Plante took an
early third place position and held it unchallenged
all the way to the finish line. Plante’s
4-3 finishes gave him the final spot on the
Pro-am podium.

Ralle Rookey grabbed the Holeshot in Moto
One, and finished 4th overall, which has
his sitting in 4th place in the Open ProAm
points chase |
Ralle Rookey had his best finishes so far this
season. The young racer claimed third place in
the first Open Pro-am moto, his highest moto finish
so far this year and he claimed a solid fifth
in moto two which earned him fourth overall. Vincent
Mofford, Jr. once again pulled two solid motos
in the Pro-am class. Mofford’s consistent
6-4 finishes had rounding out the top five for
the day.
Michael Oulette was running strong with a 6-8
finish that allowed him to take sixth overall,
while Aaron Meyer’s 7-7 had him firmly
planted in seventh place and Myles Santaniello
laid claim to eighth overall.
Nate Morello had a string of bad luck in both
Pro-am motos, getting tangled with Rocco Arno,
Jr. in the first moto and then stalling on the
gate for the second. Morello made a good charge
in both motos to take a 9-9 finish and ninth
overall, and despite his bad luck he remains
optimistic for the next round. “I just
had some bad luck this weekend, but I will definitely
be ready next weekend. I plan on putting KTM
back on the podium,” he said.
The fourth round, and third in a series of
three back-to-back races, will be held on May
31 at MX 338 in Southwick, MA. The upcoming
round could possibly see the return of Kawasaki’s
Josh Creamer and Can-Am’s Richard Pelchat,
which could make things interesting, as there
is no conflict between the NEAVT-MX and Nationals
for that date.
