In the second moto, Pillote would once again
get a good start, but this time, he was able
to charge his way into the lead to claim the
Moto Win. Pilotte’s 3-1 was enough to
edge out the competition and get him the overall
win. “It felt really good to take the
win because of all the issues I was having earlier.
I actually thought at one point that I wouldn’t
even be able to race,” said Pilotte, with
a sigh of relief.

Nate Morello battled with Joe Haavisto
both moto, but he was able to hold off
Haaivsto in Moto 2 to claim 2nd overall |
KTM’s Nat Morello was looking good in the
Pro-am class as well. Morello grabbed the holeshot
in moto one and held his lead for most of the
race until Haavisto caught up to him. The pair
battled back and forth for several laps until
the final lap when Morello made a slight mistake,
which allowed Haavisto to get by and pull away,
leaving Morello to settle for a close second place.
In moto two, Morello was second off the line
behind Michael Pilotte, with Aaron Meyer right
behind him and Joe Haavisto charging through
the pack. Haavisto caught up to Morello in the
last couple of laps and the battle began, which
ended with Haavisto and Morello getting tangled
up allowing Aaron Meyer to get past along with
a couple of other riders. Morello was first
to get back on his quad and get going and made
a huge charged to work back into third place
before crossing the finish line. Morello’s
2-3 earned him the number two spot on the podium.

Joe
Haavisto finished 3rd in the Open Pro-Am
Class, but he continues to have a dominate
points lead in the class over the class
winner Michael Pilotte |
Joe Haavisto was third off the line in the
first moto and quickly worked his way to the
front of the pack, where he would battle with
Nate Morello for several laps before taking
over the lead. In the second moto, Haavisto
almost missed the start of the race, getting
to the line just as the gate dropped. Haavisto’s
tardiness put him in the back of the pack and
forced him to make a hard charge through traffic.
Haavisto would eventually catch up to Nate Morello
once again, who was in second, but would end
up taking out both himself and Morello in his
efforts to get ahead, leaving him to settle
for a fourth place finish, which would give
him third overall.
Aaron Meyer pulled off two good motos with
4-2 finishes that earned him fourth overall,
while Jason Connell’s consistent 5-5 had
him rounding out the top five. Vincent Mofford
would go on tot take a 6-6 finish at his home
track, giving him sixth overall, with Jesse
Onesti, taking seventh. Kawasaki mounted Mathieu
Deroy would finish in the number eight spot
with Max Anderson in ninth and Rocco Arno, Jr.
would round out the top ten in the Open Pro-am
class.
Susan Parker would claim top honors in the
Open Women’s class, taking the win in
both motos, while Amy Thompson’s 3-2 landed
her in second. Angie Maher claimed the final
spot on the podium with Cassandra Depizzol and
Laura Pilotte, would finish respectively in
fourth and fifth overall.
Round number six of the 2009 New England ATV
Motocross series will head back to MX338 in
Southwick, MA on July 12th, where the points
battles will begin to heat up with the series
reaching the half way point.
