Waukon, IA - The Parts Unlimited OMA Nationals round four ATV event started in Waukon, Iowa with a downpour. Matt Lindle led the pack through the first turn aboard his Quad City Quad Doctor Honda. The Muscatine, Iowa racer managed to hold off Team Honda Racing’s Rob Zimmerman and the Rekluse Moose Racing KTM of David Crane for most of the first lap. Zimmerman took the point just before the first lap ended. Lindle was just four seconds behind, with Crane on his rear bumper, clocking in three seconds later. The Aupperle Racing Honda of Shane Gaunt stayed close, and he would take advantage of late race chain and fuel issues to bump Lindle off the podium. Lindle would have to settle for fourth place, narrowly beating the Duncan Racing Dirt Works Honda of Brian Hulsey.

Race winner David Crane took advantage of an opportunity on lap three when Zimmerman stalled his Pro Armor Maxxis Honda on a particularly gnarly uphill section. After passing the former OMA Nationals champion, Crane dialed it up a notch. His Maxxis KTM would roll through the finish line on lap seven to win the event with a gap of seven minute and forty nine seconds over Zimmerman. Crane, from Golden, Mississippi, said the track was “a lot of mud, a lot of rocks, but overall it was a great day.” He also noted “I’m just glad the rain stayed away a little while longer.”

David Crane capitalized on a mistake by Zimmerman lat into the race and finished with a 7 Minute lead.

Former OMA Nationals Champion, Rob Zimmerman stalled his Honda on the third lap on a very rough uphill section.

Rob Zimmerman finished lap seven after two hours, nine minutes, and thirty two seconds to secure his second place spot on the podium. Second place was good enough to push Zimmerman ahead of current number one plate holder Andy Lagzdins, who missed this event. Aupperle Racing provided pit crew assistance for Zimmerman as well as Shane Gaunt. The GT Thunder Gaunt Motorsports Honda piloted by Gaunt finished third at a race he called “brutal.” A flat tire and overheating problems made the day a bit rough for Gaunt. According to the Morton, Illinois rookie Pro “it was a rough race.”
