Honda Racing rider Rob Zimmerman battled
fatigue to take home third place in
the Rekluse Spring Creek GP. The Ohio
racer missed round six with a
broken arm.
|
Third place went to an obviously exhausted Rob
Zimmerman. His Fast Company Maxxis Honda stayed
on pace with Hulsey and Gaunt for nearly one
half of the race, but six weeks off the bike
with a cast on his broken arm left the former
champion seriously out of shape. “Like
three or four laps we were neck and neck. Then
all of a sudden it started hitting me”
said Zimmerman. “Sitting in a cast for
six weeks it’s kind of hard to do any
training. I am so far out of shape now because
of that broken arm being in a cast. I am going
to be putting it on the next couple weeks to
get back in shape.”
Local racer Andrew Snyder took home fourth
place aboard yet another Honda. He said “It’s
a fun track. Rob (Weis) put up a good fight.
I battled with him for two or three laps,
passed him, and went from there.” Weis
finished in fifth place aboard his Country
Sports Racing Amsoil Honda. “I pulled
off the holeshot, which I was pretty surprised
on that,” recalled Weis. “But
it probably hurt me, because I overdid it
the first two laps and sort of overheated
myself. It was a pretty clean race. I had
no problems whatsoever. The biggest problem
I had was probably lack of racing. This is
only the third race I did this year. Otherwise,
the machine ran good.”

took the holeshot but faded slightly
to finish fifth in Millville,
Minnesota at the OMA Nationals round
seven event.

St. Louis
racer John Pitts put his A class Honda
through scoring to take
fifth place overall at the Rekluse
Spring Creek GP.
|
This was another tough Bill Gusse race.
Riders of all skill levels were tested by
portions of the famous Spring Creek motocross
track combined with a twisting, winding, switchback
trail through the woods. The smiling racers
made it apparent that the OMA Nationals Series
can still provide top notch courses that challenge
and entertain in the classic old school style
of woods racing. Round seven of the series
is in the books with another new winner atop
the podium after an exciting day of racing.
Three more races remain in the season, with
the infamous Moose Run closing out the ten
race program in October. This is offroad racing.
