A Class racer John Pitts put in a
strong showing at the JohnnySigns
Ozark XC, taking second in class and
a solid sixth place overall finish.

The Aupperle Racing Gaunt Motorsports Honda
limped through scoring one minute and fifty
eight seconds behind Senger to collect fourth
place after a frustrating day. Gaunt said “I
had a real good start. I picked Rob off the
first corner, then I got Hulsey on the next.
Then I was gone.” His lead lasted until
the return trip through a river crossing where
things went terribly wrong. “Coming back
through underneath that bridge I was going way
too fast and I got water splashed up on my goggles,”
recalled the disappointed young racer. “My
tear-offs were just smeared so I couldn’t
see and a rock knocked me off my line. Then
I got hung up on a rock. I had to get off and,
you know, get it off there.” The incident
in the creek ate up all of the lead Gaunt had
amassed, and he was stuck playing catch up for
the rest of the event. Even with all of his
troubles Gaunt said “overall it was a
good race.”
Two rounds are left in the ten race Parts
Unlimited OMA Nationals series and the points
battle is still very close. Bryan Hulsey picked
up a three point lead over Rob Zimmerman and
Shane Gaunt is still very close. The series
that pits man and machine against Bill Gusse
and Mother Nature continues to provide first
class racing and entertainment for those who
have discovered this unique brand of motorsports.
Tight and technical are the primary ingredients
in a Gusse designed race course. Throw in
a few rocks, some river crossings, and the
side of a mountain along the way and you have
