Rio Grande, Ohio - OMA is unlike
any other National series running, with fresh cut, tight,
technical trails for both ATV’s and motorcycles.
One annual goal for OMA is to change up certain venues
each year to keep things new and exciting for offroad
enthusiasts. With coverage from DirtWheels, ATV Action,
ATV Rider.com, and now ATV Riders.com OMA is expanding
their coverage for ATV racers. For more information contact

Round 4:
Adam McGill pushed his 05 Honda 450R to first place
through a slippery and technical course in the woods
near Rio Grande, Ohio on Saturday April 13. After passing
riders in a rocky downhill ravine McGill and Brandon
Sommers tried to put some time on the pack but were
slowed in spots by lapped riders. The track “had
a lot of mix between rocks, uphills, downhills and things
like that. I think the track kind of played to my favorites,”
said McGill. “It was fun all day. I thought Brandon
(Sommers) had me there towards the end. I hit a tree
and he went around me.” McGill hooked back up
with Sommers and took a better line for a pass that
would stick to the end and give him a thirteen second
margin of victory.

Brandon Sommers kept his GT Thunder powered Yamaha
right with McGill all day. Sommers had a 3 second lead
over McGill on the first lap but was one second behind
on lap two. McGill and Sommers stayed within seconds
of each other the whole race giving the spectators a
fantastic show. They could pull away for a while but
had some trouble with traffic and according to Sommers,
“he (McGill) hit a tree, and I flipped. Things
happen, you know.”

Rice aboard his LT-R450 |
Lap four was good for third place rider Jeremy Rice
on his Northgate Honda sponsored Suzuki LT450 when he
passed the scoring checkpoint two seconds ahead of Brandon
Sommers. He said “It went pretty good. I got to
battle a little bit with the front guys. I got some
barbed wire wrapped around the front tire which held
me up a little bit but I was able to battle back. It
was a good day just back and forth. Every moment was
pretty exciting."

Rob
Zimmerman's injured Honda |
The start was not good for Honda mounted 2005 OMA Champion
Rob Zimmerman. An unfortunate wheel hit with another
racer on the second turn tossed Zimmerman to the ground
and knocked the wind out of him. Zimmerman recovered
but soon hit a tree causing major damage to the bumper
and a-arm to end his race with one lap and leave him
with a seventy fifth place finish.
The podium at the OMA Nationals Pirelli XC was occupied
by three new faces to the series after an exciting two
hour race where the top seven riders ran ten laps on
a rugged course. Rains during the week threatened to
cause problems, but the track turned out in nearly perfect
condition for another exciting OMA Nationals off road
racing event. The race was co-sanctioned with AWRCS
and provided a great show for spectators.
The next OMA Nationals event will be the infamous Moose
Run on June 3, 2006. The Moose Run is notorious for
length and difficulty and it will test man and machine
at Bill Gusse’s home location in Morrison, Illinois.
The OMA Nationals series provides single track off road
racing to a growing number of racers looking for a technically
challenging race environment that requires a combination
of skill and speed to conquer. This is off road racing.
