The two stream crossings were a good passing
spot, and the second creek had three different
entrance lines, and three lines up the slippery
bank on the way out. Plenty of spectators were
on hand to help direct the riders, and also
help out if the need arose. To make it up the
bank, you had to gas it through the stream,
making a good size wake, and blowing the center
rut apart with the front bumper on impact. The
ruts were deep and mud-filled, the kind that
would make getting your quad out of them harder
than pulling hen’s teeth.
Bithell and Pickens checked out at the front,
taking first and second overall. Brandon made
his way past Jeremy and I, and then on the last
lap passed Gallagher for third. I was able to
get around Jeremy near the end to finish fifth
behind Gallagher. Rice held onto sixth, a great
ride on a stock quad. I was able to get a little
help in the points race, as Zimmerman finished
eighth. The next round of the OMA Series takes
place in Waukon, Iowa, at a track that many national
offroad bike riders have called one of America’s
best tracks. See you there!
