Evan Thatcher rounded out the Top 3 at Arizona
Cycle Park |
Oregon native Evan Thatcher was looking good at
round two. Thatcher was in second off the start
in moto one and held off Beau Baron for a few laps
before falling back to third. Thatcher held the
number three position until reaching the checkered
flag.
In moto two, Thatcher and South African Racer
Dirkie Baard battled it out, with Thatcher taking
a fourth place finish. Thatcher’s solid
3-4 finishes had him rounding out the pro podium,
his second podium of the season.

Dirkie Baard moved up a notch at ACP to
claim an impressive 4th Overall |
Dirkie Baard was caught in traffic off the start
in moto one and would only finish in eighth place,
but in the second moto, Baard was in the top five
off the start and after a heated battle with Evan
Thatcher, Baard would finish in third, giving
him fourth overall for the day, his best pro finish
so far this season.
Jason Fife put in a good first moto, claiming
a fourth place finish, but he was got off to a
slower start in moto two and was only able to
make his way into seventh before crossing the
finish line, allowing him to round out the top
five overall.

John Shafe finished 6th Overall |
John Shafe claimed 5-8 finishes for sixth overall,
while Jesse Goss’s 9-6 finishes had him taking
seventh and Evan Spooner held on for eighth place
overall.
Yamaha’s Josh Row ran into trouble in moto
one when he and Justin Jones got hooked up off
the start. It took a while for the pair to be
separated, putting Row way behind the rest of
the pack. And to add insult to injury, the contact
with Jones caused damage to Row’s quad that
made his seat keep popping off. Row finished the
first moto in eleventh place, but made a big comeback
in moto two when he charged through traffic to
take a fifth place finish, but it would only put
him in ninth overall.
In the Pro-am class, Garrin Fuller topped the
podium with 3-1 finishes, while Clay Forenpohar
went 2-2 for second and Daniel Ramirez claimed
the final spot on the podium with 5-3 finishes.
In the Women’s class, Brittany Bingaman
took top honors with a pair of moto wins, while
Jamie Nelson went 2-2 for second and Donna Espensen’s
3-3 finishes gave her the final spot on the Women’s
podium.
Round number three of the 2011 Yamaha Quad X
series will head to Cahuilla Creek MX in Anza,
CA on May 8th where Dustin Nelson and Beau Baron
will be battling it out for the pro podium.
