Duncan Racing's Garrin
Fuller Wins Pro-Am ATV Championship
::Continued::
In the Pro-am ranks there was plenty of competition
as well and several foreign racers, who decided
to attend this round, but Duncan Racing’s
Garrin Fuller took top honors as he took the overall
win and the 2011 Quad X Pro-am championship. In
the first moto, Fuller battled it out with veteran
racer, Mike Cafro. Fuller held off Cafro, who
made several attempts to get past, but Fuller
held on and took the moto one win.
In moto two, Fuller got off to a mid-pack start
but worked his way through traffic and took over
the number two spot at the midway point. Fuller
pressured UK racer, Ol Sansom, but was not able
to get by, giving him a second place finish in
moto two. However, Fuller’s 1-2 finishes
were good enough to give him the overall win and
the Pro-Am Production ATV championship.
Dylan Dixon, who took second in the Pro-am points
chase, also finished in a respectable second for
the final round. Dixon was in mod-pack off the
start in the first moto and would finish in seventh
place, but rebounded in moto two. Dixon was in
third off the start and took over second for a
couple of laps in moto two. Dixon eventually fell
back after Garrin Fuller made the pass on him,
but Dixon held on to take a third place finish,
giving him second on the Pro-am podium.
Logan Datin put in two solid motos, going 5-5,
which would earn him the final spot on the Pro-am
podium, his best finish of the season. Datin’s
impressive podium finish also allowed him to round
out the top five in Pro-am points for the season.
Jamie VanDeraa made the trek down from Canada
and would take 4-8 finishes for fourth overall.
English racer, Ol Sansom had issues in moto one,
but came back strong to take the moto two win,
but his 13th place finish in moto one would only
allow him to round out the top five overall for
the day.
Josh Pursell rode two consistent motos for a
sixth place finish, while Daniel Ramirez would
end his day in seventh. Irish racer, Cian Rogers
took a solid third place finish in moto one, but
issues in moto two would put him in eighth overall.
Mike Cafro, who had challenged Garrin Fuller
for the win in moto one, encountered clutch issues
in moto two after taking the holeshot and the
lead. Cafro’s unfortunate issues put him
in ninth overall.
TJ Barber held on for a tenth place finish, with
Keith Carlson in eleventh and Jorge Guerro in
twelfth. Mark McLernon came all the way from Ireland,
but would only finish in thirteenth place.
The 2011 Quad X series has come to an end with
Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson, bringing home his
fifth Pro Quad X championship. The 2012 race schedule
will be announced on Tuesday, which includes several
new tracks, which should make for another exciting
year of racing.
