ATV & UTV Race Report
::Continued::
To compete in this race is empowering. To finish
is astounding. To race this event solo and finish
is a truly remarkable. There were a total of five
Ironman racers and only one of them was aboard
an ATV. John Crowley aboard his 54a Honda 450R
completed the entire 1296.39-mile event with a
finishing time of 51:12:18 good enough for fourth
in the Ironman event and 10th overall in the sportsman
class.

As other racers came in to finish, the 103a Honda
450r claimed 1st place in class 24 with a finishing
time 32:05:50. Good enough for fourth ATV overall
just behind Carmen Cafro on the 7a Honda. Winning
the sportsman class was David Corbani and his
team with a time of 34:14:57 nearly two hours
ahead of second place. Unfortunately, the UTV’s
did not fare as well; none of them were able to
cross the finish line in the prescribed time limit.
The Baja 1000 is an epic test of man and machine
where the terrain and conditions can be described
as unpredictable at best. It is an event filled
with not only tragedy and heartbreak, but it is
also filled with stories of inspirational triumph,
and shows the amazing courage and determination
the human spirit is capable of. It brings together
riders from all over the world all with one common
goal: not to win, but to finish, which in itself
is perhaps the biggest victory of all.
