Round 5 - RAW MX - Links |
|
|
Geary,OK - RAW MX is a new
and upcoming track located in Northwestern Oklahoma.
The track has a good rhythm and is fun to ride
with great sandy Oklahoma red dirt. The weather
has been unpredictable this Spring as we found
out first hand. The track was hit 3 times in
a 24 hour period by severe thunderstorms with
hail, high winds and wall clouds looming overhead.
TQRA families emerged from RV's and trailers
to a muddy mess.
The track personnel had their work cut out
for them, since there were numerous areas of
standing water. As the fear of cancellation
spread, the RAW MX staff went to work. They
worked diligently into the early morning hours
pumping water off the track. After working the
dirt, the track was in prime condition for practice
and even became dusty on race day. The TQRA
staff and families can not thank the RAW MX
personnel enough for their hard work to make
Round 5 a success.

Can-Am's
Chase Snapp battled it out with Johnny
Hale in both motos but Snapp would take
the overall win in both Pro/Am & Expert
ATV Classes |
The Pro/Am and Expert class shaped up to be
a battle between Chase Snapp #48 and Johnny
Hale #16. In first moto of "Expert"
class Chase Snapp #48 was slightly hindered
in the hole shot corner when his quad met a
hay bale unwillingly. Caleb Schatz #1 lost control
and pushed Snapp over the berm. Snapp quickly
recovered but was a full 15 seconds behind his
competitors. According to Snapp " I knew
that I just had to make it to second for that
moto to be able to get the overall. So, I just
put my head down and charged my hardest."
Hale lead the pack for 7 laps on his Honda and
had victory insight. Then out of know where,
Snapp was on his tail. Snapp was able to put
his #48 Can Am out front for the win but not
with out a fight. Hale and Snapped swapped places
down to the last lap.
The second moto of the "Expert" class
Snapp came out second behind Hale but made his
move quickly to take the lead. Snapp held the
lead for the overall win of the day. The first
moto of the Pro/Am class was just as eventful.
Snapp was able to avoid the pile up at the first
turn. Snapp had a easy moto. Hale was second
out of the pile up but was unable to make up
the time needed to catch Snapp. Hunter Miller
#90 and Corey Snapp #221 swapped places back
and forth for the battle for 3rd. This round
would go to Hunter

There
was also a tense battle between Corey
Snapp & Hunter Miller for second and
third place both aboard Can-Am DS 450
ATVs |
In the second moto of Pro Am Hale got the hole
shot followed by Snapp. Chase spun out in a
corner and pushed him to last place. Once again,
he had to dig deep and push past his competitors
including his brother, Corey. Corey had his
hands full holding his 3rd place position to
Miller. The race was a long hard engagement
including rubbing tires and swapping positions
several time. In the end Snapp prevailed with
his fourth moto win of the day. Hale came in
at a respectable 2nd, Corey 3rd, Hunter 4th,
Caleb Schatz rounded out the class at 5th.
