TQRA Pro-Am Race Report

TQRA Motocross Racing
Round 1 - Village Creek MX
Ft. Worth, TX -Yamaha’s Thomas Brown kicked off his 2014 racing season in his homestate of Texas at the TQRA ATV Motocross Racing season opener at Village Creek Motocross.  After some intense battles, Thomas Brown secured the Pro-Am win followed by rookie racer, Alex Woskob, and veteran, Johnny Hale.

The TQRA racing season opener attracted over 150 motocross racers from around the country, and they were treated to near perfect racing conditions with temperatures in the 70’s, which felt even better for many of the racers that traveled from the northern states for some winter training. The TQRA season opener was the perfect way to prepare for the ATV motocross nationals.

The Pro-Am class was staked at the season opener with several AMA Pro motocross racers in the mix with Thomas Brown, John Natalie, Johnny Hale, and Tim Dettling all signing up for the Pro-Am Class, and Joe Byrd was also in attendance, but after practicing on Saturday, he decided to spend Sunday watching some of the motos before heading east to Florida.

In Pro-Am Moto One, Thomas Brown got off to a mid pack start, but he quickly charged his way into the second spot behind John Natalie, but despite his best effort, he wasn’t able to make a pass on Natalie and finished in the second spot.

In moto two, Thomas Brown grabbed the holeshot with John Natalie in chase, and by the second lap, Natalie had taken over the lead with Brown in chase. Once again, Brown found himself chasing after Natalie, and in the final lap of the race, Natalie’s axle snapped, which allowed Brown to take over the lead for the moto win, which also scored Brown the overall win in the Pro-Am class.

John Natalie Experience Racer, Alex Woskob, made his ATV racing debut at the TQRA opener, and despite only riding an ATV for just over a month, he looked more like a seasoned veteran than a first time racer, which is exactly why Natalie had him sign up in the pro-am and open expert classes.

In moto one, Alex Woskob came out of turn one in the second spot behind Natalie, but he quickly found himself under pressure from Brown in lap two with Woskob dropping back to the third spot.  Woskob and Tim Dettling battled for the rest of the moto with Woskob holding on to claim the third spot.

In moto two, Woskob got off to a third place start behind Natalie and Brown, and Woskob stayed their for the entire moto until Natalie’s axle snapped, which allowed Woskob to move up into the second spot for a 3-2 finish and second overall on the day.

For a first time ATV racer, Alex Woskob, surely turned some heads, and his plan for 2014 is to compete at the AMA ATV Motocross Nationals in the Pro-Am Class, which is amazing considering he has only been riding for just over a month, but he proved to everyone in Texas that he has the speed to compete, so we are sure we will be hearing more about Woskob in the coming months.
