Racing Beau Baron & Levi Marana teamed
p for the 8 Hour race |
Meanwhile, the team of Levi Marana and Beau Baron,
who were dead last off the start, were working feverishly
to get to the front and got their wish in the third
lap when they took over the lead briefly before
their bike over heated and they were forced to pull
into the pits to hose down the radiator. The team
came back out and worked back to 3rd place, but
once again ran into trouble. “The lights went
out on my turn, so that was definitely a challenge,”
said Beau Baron. “ I kind of paced myself
and waited for another racer to come along and then
I followed him back to the pits,” Baron explained.
The Marana / Baron team was able to fix the issue,
and went back out to retake third place in the 24th
lap, where they would stay all the way to the end.

Racers' Michael Swift, Cliff Beasley &
Bryan Buckhannon claim the WORCS 8 Hour
Win |
The Can-Am/PIAA Utility team consisting of GNCC
4x4 Limited Champ Michael Swift, 4x4 Lites Champ
Cliff Beasley and 4x4 Open class racer Bryan Buckhannon
made a big impression on their west coast counterparts.
They may have been the only Utility class team on
the track, but they laid down some impressive lap
times and ended their day in 11th place overall.
“This is really different racing from what
we’re used to. At the GNCC you’ve got
tight technical trails, hill climbs, creek crossings
and all kinds of stuff, but this is more like riding
on the highway. You’re wide open and just
going for it,” said Swift, who likes the different
terrain and change of scenery.

back to SpeedWorld MX Park on January 23rd-25th
for the season opener, where Pro champion Josh
Frederick will try to defend his title for a third
consecutive time against some stiff competition
such as up and coming racers Beau Baron and Robbie
Mitchell, while veteran racers Dustin Nelson and
Doug Eichner will be applying the pressure as
well in hopes of dethroning the champ.
