Round
2 of the 2012 WORCS Racing Series was held
at Buffalo Bill's Casino with both ATVs
& Motorcycle racing on separate tracks
both Saturday & Sunday |
Great weather was on tap for round two, but the
lack of moisture that has plagued the Nevada desert
this winter took its toll and made for quite a
bit of dust. Track workers saturated the track
overnight but too little avail as the water soaked
up quickly and created quite a bit of dust in
sections. Luckily, there was a nice breeze blowing
that helped to clear the dust out and keep visibility
issues to a minimum. The great weather also contributed
to the giving nature of the WORCS family who came
together his weekend to help out a fellow racer
in need.
The WORCS family is known for their unity and
support of each other and round two of the 2012
series showed that sense of community in full.
Legendary racer, and multi-time WORCS Pro ATV
champion, Doug Eichner and his family have been
struggling ever since Doug’s wife Joan was
diagnosed with cancer a few years ago. It has
been a tough battle and Doug has been working
non-stop to support his family and pay medical
expenses that have been mounting.

$40/each with all the funds going to the
Eichner family & they will be available
at Lake Havasu as well |
There
were numerous silent auction items available
for bidding along with Polaris Outlaw 450MX
ATV Raffle & Rick Shafe was the lucky
winner |
The WORCS family banded together for round two
to show their support of the family. Special Doug
Eichner t-shirts were available for purchase,
with 100% of the proceeds going to the Eichner
family. Also donations were collected via a Fill-the-Boot
style campaign that helped raise money for the
family. One of Doug Eichner’s stock Polaris
Outlaw ATV’s was also raffled off with Rick
Shafe being the lucky winner of the quad.
This weekend was a combined weekend with both
quads and bikes in attendance and t was reported
that there were a record number of registrations
for this event that made for a great weekend of
racing.
As the racers lined up for the pro ATV main event,
racer Justin Waters noticed his drain plug was
missing and just before the drop of the flag,
Waters jumped off his quad in hopes of getting
a two minute delay, but it was too late, and the
flag dropped. Waters’ last minute dismount
did however create a distraction on the line that
caused several racers who are known for good starts,
to get a slower than normal start; but that wasn’t
the case for DWT’s Dillon Zimmerman, who
grabbed the pro ATV holeshot on the dead engine
start.
