Race Report

DWT’s Robbie Mitchell was pleased with his sixth
podium of the season. He attempted to challenge
to Haagsma and Baron early in the event, but fell
back into his own pace in the middle stages and
finished third.

Top 3 on the Podium |
“I came off the couch basically; I’ve only run
one 30-minute moto and been the gym twice since
that last race,” said Mitchell. “I tried to stick
with Dave and Beau for a little while, but I made
a lot of mistakes early, riding too tight. Once
I settled down and tried to hit my lines, I started
picking up a little bit.”
Duncan Racing’s Garrin Fuller was challenging
Mitchell for third early in the race, but he was
struck in the jaw by a rock and pulled off. “On
the second lap, I took what felt like a boulder
to the chin,” said Mitchell. “I was seeing stars
for a while and was super dizzy. I wasn’t able
to hit the lines the way I should. I was trying
to regroup, and the dizziness just wasn’t going
away. I noticed I was bleeding pretty heavily,
so I pulled off. The paramedic got me back to
the trailer and I just sat out.”

Racing's Garrin Fuller has some of the worst
luck this season & he took a rock to
the face at Glen Helen, which sidelined
him, so we hope he can finish the season
on a high note at the season finale |
In the Pro-am race, LSR Racing’s David Flores
spoiled Mike Sloan’s perfect run this season,
netting his first victory of the season. Sloan
took the early lead looking for his eighth consecutive
win, but the rear brakes failed on his machine,
giving the lead and eventual victory to Flores.
Flores had his own issues when his quad stalled
in the pits early in the race, but he charged
through the pack to claim the win.

“My bike just shut off,” said Flores. “I kicked
and kicked until it finally started. I knew the
race wasn’t over. I was on a mission, so I put
my head down and the race went perfect from there.
I just kept pushing Sloan and got him on the uphill.
My family was here cheering me on and they really
motivated me. I was ready to win today.”
