Yamaha's
Justin Waters takes over the points lead
after a wild race to the finish |
Another note worthy feat that happened this weekend
was Pro-am racer Justin Water’s incredible
comeback to take the win. In the first lap, a couple
miles into the course, Justin was battling for second
place when he went of the track and blew his tire
completely off the rim, which landed him in 23rd
place. Waters managed to get his quad back to the
pits, fix the tire and head back out on the track.
Waters had a huge battle in front of him, but he
began picking off riders one by one and moved into
the lead with about two laps left in the race. Justin
held onto his lead and took the win followed by
Keith Johnson in second and Myron Whitehorse in
third. Rounding out the top five for the Pro-am
class were Bronson Bundy in fourth and Cody Mitchell
in fifth.

Dillon
Zimmerman's championship hopes slipped away
with a DNF, which gave Waters the advantage
heading to Taft |
Keith
Johnson caught everyone off guard by roosting
his way through the sand to an impressive
2nd place finish |
In the Pro-Am class, Justin Waters is leading
the points race with 183 points, while Dillon
Zimmerman is in second with 177. Dax Snow, who
has 169 points, currently holds third place but
with Bronson Bundy only five points behind in
4th place, there should be plenty of action from
both of these riders at the final race.
As the last race of the 2007 season approaches,
the competition has intensified in the Pro class.
Josh Frederick may have already seized the Pro
Championship, but there is still a battle going
on for second and third place. Doug Eichner is
currently in second with 185 points and Jeremy
Schell is in third with 161. John Shafe and Levi
Marana are also in close contention for the podium
as Shafe is only four points shy of third place
with 157, and Marana is only six behind Schell
with 151 points.

Eichner claims the first win ever for the
all new straight axle Outlaw 525 S with
Nelson & Brown rounding out the Podium |
Epic
CanAm's Josh Frederick may not have won
the race, but his finish was more than enough
to secure his 1st Pro Championship |

#3525
Maxwell Nieherhause |
On a more somber note, ATVriders extends our
sincerest condolences to the family of Production
B class racer, Maxwell Niederhause who tragically
passed away during Sunday’s event. The racing
community is a tight knit one that seems to be
more of a big family than anything else, so it
is in that spirit that we are encouraging all
racers to join in a memorial effort by displaying
Maxwell’s WORCS racing number, 3525, somewhere
on their gear for at least one race, in Maxwell’s
honor.
In other news, the Southern California wild fires
have also been a hardship for racers returning
home from WORCS, including Doug Eichner, who went
straight from Sunday’s race to help a friend
evacuate, and Dustin Nelson who has not been able
to go home since leaving for WORCS last week.
Nelson and his family returned Sunday night to
find their neighborhood had been evacuated. “We
still aren’t sure when they will let us
go home, but it looks like it could still be a
couple of days.” Said Dustin when we called
to check up on him and his family on Thursday.
Luckily, Nelson’s home was not damaged due
to the fires. Our thoughts and prayers are with
all of those who have been affected by the fires
and we hope everyone is able to return safely
home very soon.
The WORCS season final will be held at Honolulu
Hills Raceway in Taft, CA on November 9-11, 2007.
