ATVriders.com: For 2014, Yamaha updated the proven YFZ450R with a new fender design and more leg room up front and the rear fenders also got changed. Did that help you out being so tall along with all the others updates for this year?
Chad Wienen: Oh yeah for sure it did. They changed some engine components and the throttle body and once we started digging through the machine we found a lot of stuff that they changed and a lot of stuff we continue to use. It’s a strong machine and it proved it here in 2014 and when you make improvements like that to an already stellar machine, that’s a win-win for us.

ATVriders.com: This is the first time you’ve won the championship as a married man. The last two you were single, so how’s everything going with that?
Chad Wienen: The married life is good, we’ve been together for so long and we had an awesome wedding in October and we’re coming up on October again already and having our anniversary and we’re just stoked to get through the year healthy and doing a little celebrating at the end and have a wedding anniversary, we don’t have plans for it yet, but I’m sure we’ll enjoy that.

ATVriders.com: Loretta Lynn’s is coming up next, you plan on going for another win there?
Chad Wienen: Oh yeah, for sure! That’s what we get paid to do and you know the opportunity is there and we are going go for it. I’m going to go for it there at Loretta’s. I didn’t get to do too much riding before this round. It’s just one of those things that we do before a championship race we just try to come in there healthy and do the racing from there, but being able to get back on the machine and doing some training and practicing will be good before Loretta’s.

ATVriders.com: How about this Caleb Moore ATV Pro Challenge coming up in Texas on October 11th, are you planning on heading down there for that?
Chad Wienen: Yeah we’re a big supporter of that and Caleb and he’s a big star and what he did was an inspiration to many. What happened was really sad and he’s looking down on us and hanging loose and he’s enjoying it. We will always support that for as long as they have it. We’re going to go down to TX and gear up for that in October.

Chad Wienen will be back to defend his Pro championship at the 2014 Caleb Moore ATV Pro Challenge on October 11, 2014 in Texas.

ATVriders.com: What do you plan on doing this off season?
Chad Wienen: I just plan on getting through Loretta’s and then we are going to go on vacation right away and it’s been so crazy having the team and we will be needing a little get-a-way and we plan on going to Canada to Danika’s (Chad’s wife) parent’s property and we’re going to work on some stuff for a tropical vacation as well to get onto a beach and we are just going to enjoy it, and work on stuff for 2015. We have a lot of our sponsors down pat and everyone’s stoked about this year and we have some new riders in the works, so we’re going to enjoy it.

ATVriders.com: Possibly expanding your team next year?
Chad Wienen: Oh yeah, we’ve been expanding and we have our radar on some up-and-coming kids and we have some good things in the works for the next year, so you’ll have to wait to hear our announcements to find out what going on!
