Jeremy
Lawson had a very successful season in 2007,
with 11 out of 12 finishes in the top 5, including
three Pro ATV class wins. Jeremy’s impressive
season earned him a second place overall in
the points race of the 2007 AMA Pro ATV Motocross
Nationals aboard his Honda TRX 450R.
Now
with the 2008 season fast approaching, Jeremy
will be sporting a new factory ride; a new
Can-Am/Epic Racing DS450. Jeremy was looking
very smooth and confident on his new ride
when we caught up with him while he was practicing
down in Florida, which the Kentucky native
now calls home. We were able to sit down and
talk to Jeremy in between practice motos about
his off-season training, his new factory deal
with Can-Am and what his plans are for 2008.
Here’s what he had to say:
ATVriders.com: How long have you been
down here in Florida practicing with Tommy
Tantillo?
Jeremy Lawson: I live down here now so I’ve
been coming down here for the past two years
now.
I live about 10 minutes away from the track.
Does
having a facility this close allow you to
put in a lot more track time?
Yeah, it’s great. I come over here to
Tommy’s and do a little riding.
How
is it having other guys like Chad Wienen,
Cale Downen, and Chris Bowen out here to train
with?
It’s awesome! They’ve been down
here for about a month. I was riding pretty
good before that but when they come down we
get some different lines going and we moto
together and go to the gym together…it’s
pretty cool.

What’s
it like competing out there with someone like
Chad Wienen?
It’s good. We battle it out. It’s
pretty fun!

Doing
laps around the track isn't all it takes
anymore to be competitive at the Pro
level as many riders like Jeremy Lawson
are now hitting the gym on a near daily
basis to stay in shape |
Do
you have a regular work our routine you stick
to?
I go to the gym everyday and work out. I’m
trying to get a little bigger and stronger.
Last year I think that was one of my weak
points so I’m trying to get that out
of the way this year.
Do
you practice every day?
Just about everyday. With the new bike I’m
just basically trying to get it dialed in.
How
has the transition been to the new DS450?
It’s been awesome. It fits me pretty
good. I got on it and started hitting everything
and running faster lap times than I was on
my Honda.
