I started out with a Honda 400EX bored
out to a 440, and she was great until I needed more power.
I didn’t like the feel of the new YFZ450 and 450R,
and I felt very comfortable on my 400EX. It just so happened
that my buddy purchased a new YZ450F motorcycle, and after
only one week of owning it (not bike related). He was forced
to sell it, but wasn’t getting price he wanted for
it. He decided to part it out, and I asked myself if I could
put the YZ450F motor in my EX. Sure I can, so we stripped
my bike down, and JB Racing supplied the gussets and all
the necessary mounts to get the engine mounted into the
frame. Then we got rid of the +2 A-arms for a set of Long
Travel A-Arms with a better set of shocks, and we started
to dress her up by powdercoating, polishing, and chroming
almost everything. Once I was finished and had everything
dialed in, the conversion was everything that I wanted.
It is an all around wickedly fast quad that is different
than what everyone else has at the track, so this is how
my baby was born.
I do have to mention that the Blingstar front
bumpers are awesome, but at the time of the conversion over
a year ago, I never heard of them, but the wife says she well
get it for me if I am a good boy because otherwise it would
have been already on the machine.
