If you try this, please document it. I'm not sure it is possible without changing the left case. It all depends on how the starter mounts.

I checked around and there are no kits that I could find. Even on CRFS ONLY website no one new of one. They make one for the TRX motor, but the cases are different from the CRF so it wont work. Your best bet is probably to get a CRF-X motor that comes with electric start.

i am actully looking into maybe changeing the cases
but the local honda dealer is telling me i would have to switch the gearing to a x model
i dont want that gearing
im wondering if i could use the x cases and stator and poss. a fly wheel
and get away w/ out the gears
thanks for the help
if theres a will theres a way:)

What year motor do you have? It would only work with an 05-07. If you have an 03 motor it won't work anyway.
I don't think the gears would make a difference. The difference in gears is just to make the X more trail friendly and wider ratio.
BTW you should shorten your signature, it's soooo long.
You could always sell your 450R motor and buy a 450X motor and switch the gears back to R. But again if you have an 03 motor, it may not mount with an 05 as they are different cases.

its an 03
but if i gear mine w/ the geas and cases from an x
it might be a lil more trail freindly as well...
its not too much power at all thou
my local honda dealer said this quad should stat pretty good anyhow....2 to 3 kicks
i think im gonna try adj. the valve before i do anything
the guy i bought this from said it way just done
but....... who knows

It should start pretty good, my hybrid with a 03 motor starts easy and thats with a short yz250 kicker. A few kicks(on top dead center) and it starts, hot or cold. When they get hard to start, its a signs of the valves out of spec. Mine is hard to start when not wearing riding boots. Right now, I'm actually building a trike that holds a crf450r motor, I just gotta buy a crf450r bike for the motor, carb and electronics. He's using a junk crf450r motor to build everything off.

ok so im also new w/ the honda motor
these have auto de comp cams right???
they also have a diff feel than the yamahas im used to at top dead
any way of telling????
and honda says get it top dead than kick it a lil than give it a real kick
kinda lost

How I start mine: kick it lightly 3 times, NO GAS, get it to tdc(where you hit resistance in kicking),let it ratchet back and give it everything you have in one smooth kick. I have a short yz250 kicker, so it takes more force than a stock kicker. It does have a decompressor, it can be adjusted some for how easy you want to kick to be. Mine has a kinda light kick as the decompressor is adjusted so.

I hate to burst your bubble but thats not true electric start...
Its a car battery hooked to a starter that has been retro-fitted to a adapter that slides on the kickstart.

My 03 450 motor will kick usually 1st kick. Its all about the valves being p[roperly adjusted. I dont even have to be at TDC, just kick it hard enuff. I can even kick it in flip flops. I would bet every motor has its own little quirks, so its just getting to know what your motor likes. I know that mine likes the hot start if its hot, or I kill it, and never hit the throttle when trying to kick it. When its cold, I pump the throttle a couple of times and then kick, and will fire right up, usually 1st time.
