Upperman faced bad luck but fought hard to finish

Timed qualifying went well for Upperman, but
bad luck struck early in the first moto. “All
in all we had a really good weekend, I just made
a couple mistakes. First moto I didn’t have
the best holeshot, and then I came around the
first lap and caught a really nasty kicker, which
launched me off the bike. I got up and had to
get back on and go, so I didn’t really finish
the best there,” explained Upperman.
During the second moto, Upperman came out very strong, running up front for much of the race before a last lap mishap caused him to fall back. “My Root River Racing bike launched me out of the gate where I almost pulled the holeshot, and I led for a couple laps. It was starting to wear on me from the first race where I hurt my shoulder a little bit. I just put my head down and tried to charge. The last lap I made an error, which caused me to stall the bike and set me back,” stated Upperman.
The weekend’s bad luck caused Upperman
to finish fifteenth overall, but he is still optimistic
and ready for next season. “We were right
there with our lap times but luck just hasn’t
been on my side. I’m just going to go home
and do a little bit more homework. Hopefully we
can figure things out for next year. I will be
competing at the Soaring Eagle supercross race,
and I will definitely be back to racing next season,”
said Upperman.
