Rounds five and six of the Terracross Championships were held in Charlotte, NC at the Charlotte Motor Speedway where a technical track awaited Mickey Thomas. The track was the fastest and longest track of the season but still had many technical challenges. Luckily, Mickey Thomas, who was driving the #44 Polaris RZR XP 1000 was up for the task.

Thomas started on the third row in the fifth round main event and had his work cut out for him. Thomas came off the line in the number six spot, and worked up to a fourth place finish. “That finish really helped us out because we passed some key people who were ahead of us in the points,” said Thomas.
Four round six, Thomas was on the front row for the start on the outside, but several racers were able to get by him from the inside lines on the start. The battle among the top five was intense with the points on the line, and Thomas made his way around Daryl Rath into the fourth spot early in the race, but in the final laps, Thomas dropped fifth before the checkered flag to round out the top five, which was enough to tie BC Vaught for the third spot in points.

“The Terracross series is awesome, and there’s nothing like it anywhere. I was really happy that the final rounds were close to home, so my family could come out here and see what I do. We had good races this weekend, and ended up tied for third in points, so I couldn’t be happier with that,” said Thomas.
ATVRiders.com’s Scott McFarland, who has been piloting the #42 Polaris RZR, had his ups and downs through the season, which was a learning curve for him, but he qualified for both main events at Charlotte, and he finished an impressive second place in the round six heat race after battling with Doug Gust, which gave McFarland a great starting position for the main. McFarland, rounded out the top ten in the season finale, and is looking forward to next season.
