GoPro also brought out their new GoPro Hero 3 Plus Black, which is 20% smaller and lighter with its new housing. Also, it has a 30% improved battery life, and the new batteries can be used in the older models, which was a big plus. The Wi-Fi is now 4x faster, and it also now has auto low light mode for increased performance in low light, so we were excited to hit the dunes and test out the new GoPro Hero 3+ Black.

GoPro was on hand
for us to test out the new GoPro Hero
3 Plus Black edition cameras |
Yamaha’s Pro motocross Racers, Dustin Nelson and Thomas Brown, were also both on hand for our ride. AMA Pro ATV Motocross Racer, Thomas Brown, it was his first time out riding in the Glamis Sand Dunes, but you would have never been able to tell as he wasted no time carving up the dunes and finding some dunes to launch the Yamaha YFZ450R SE for some big air.

Pro
Motocross Racer, Thomas Brown, made his
first appearance at Glamis & in no
time would be catching massive air on
the Yamaha YFZ450R SE |
Thomas Brown was only able to stay for one day during our ride because he needed to get back to training for the opening round of the Motocross Championship on March 22nd, which is just under a month away at Aonia Pass in Georgia.

Fresh off his Quad X season opener win, Dustin Nelson also attended the event |
Dustin Nelson’s race season kicked off in January at the WORCS Racing Series, and just last week, Dustin Nelson won the Yamaha Quad-X Series season opener going 1-1 on the 2014 Yamaha YFZ450R. Living in California, Nelson is also a Glamis Sand Dunes seasoned veteran as he has grown up riding in the dunes.

If you are looking for a comfortable ride, the Yamaha Raptor 700R has plenty of power for the dunes & its plush suspension & seat make it ideal for cruising the dunes |
We had two days of riding on both the Yamaha
YFZ450R SE and Yamaha Raptor 700R, but we spent
most of our time riding the Yamaha YFZ450R since
it was updated for 2014. We already know how
well the Yamaha Raptor 700R performs in the
dunes as we consider it the Cadillac of dunes
with its plush suspension and seat paired with
plenty of horsepower to go anywhere you point
it, and you can ride the Yamaha Raptor 700R
all day without feeling fatigued.
