– The 2014 Mtn Dew AMA ATV Motocross Championship
Series season kick-off at Aonia Pass MX Park in
Washington, Georgia provided some action packed
Pro ATV motocross racing with exciting racing
in both motos, and race fans witnessed one of
the most intense battles for the lead in years
with a five way battle going from start to finish
with DWT’s John Natalie leading the charge nearly
the entire moto to claim an impressive moto two
win.

The “Ironman” John Natalie Jr. once again grabbed
the moto two holeshot, which earned him four points
in the SSi Holeshot championship award with a
bonus point for taking both holeshots at the opening
round.

Yamaha’s Chad Wienen made several attempts to
pass Natalie, and he even was able to get out
front briefly, but Natalie quickly regained the
lead with Wienen chasing after Natalie’s shadow
to the checkered flag, but Wienen’s 2nd place
finish was more than enough to secure the overall
win for the weekend.

John Natalie Jr. put an impressive charge the
entire second moto by holding off some stiff competition
to claim the moto win, which secured Natalie the
second spot on the Pro ATV Motocross Podium.

Elka’s Joel Hetrick bounced back and forth between
third and fourth, and in the end, he held the
third spot over Josh Creamer to secure the final
spot on the podium, and Hetrick recorded the fast
laptime in Moto 2 with a time of 1:34.441.

BCS Performance’s Josh Creamer had an intense
battle in the second moto with Hetrick and Wienen,
but in the end, Creamer finished in the fourth
spot for fourth overall with a 3-4 finish.

Yamaha’s Thomas Brown ran with the lead pack
for the entire second moto, and finished the day
with a 5-5 finish for fifth overall.

JB Racing’s Jeffrey Rastrelli finished ahead of
Josh Upperman to claim the sixth spot followed
by Upperman.

If the 2014 Mtn Dew Pro ATV Motocross season
opener is a glimpse at what is to come for the
rest of the season, fans are in for an exciting
year of Pro ATV motocross racing as the top five
are appear to be really close in speed, but Chad
Wienen remains the man to beat as he kicks off
season with yet another overall win to retain
the red number plate.
