2015 Daytona ATV Supercross
Pro Race Report
::Continued::
Early in the day during qualifiers and heat races,
Josh Upperman and Chad Wienen locked wheels during
their heat race, which sent the pair to the LCQ.
As the gate dropped for the LCQ, Upperman did
what he does best and grabbed the holeshot, while
Chad Wienen was in fourth off the start.

pair to the LCQ |
Wienen quickly made his way into second and then
chased down Upperman. Wienen followed Upperman
closely and after just a couple of laps, Wienen
took the lead as the white flag waved. Wienen
went on to take the LCQ win with Upperman in second.
“It was a rough start to the day, but I’m fired
up and ready to go for the main,” said Wienen.

Wienen came back to win the LCQ followed
by Josh Upperman, but they would get one
of the last gate picks for the main event |
When the gate dropped for the first-ever Daytona
ATV SX Pro Main event, the holeshot went to John
Natalie, and he was followed closely by Jeffrey
Rastrelli and Thomas Brown.

Motorsport's John Natalie Jr grabbed the
Pro ATV Holeshot |
Baldwin Motorsports’ John Natalie, who had made
some bold statements about his switch to Baldwin
earlier in the year, was determined to make history
as the first ever ATV SX winner and took advantage
of his holeshot as he pulled a slight lead over
his competitors.

JB
Racing / Liquid Wrench's Jeffrey Rastrelli
was challenging John Natalie Jr for the
lead when he went over the bars to end his
charge |
Jeffrey Rastrelli did close in on Natalie in
the third lap and went for a pass but was unable
to make it happen; and when Rastrelli crashed
later on, it gave Natalie a bit of a breather
but not for long. Soon Joel Hetrick closed in
and went for a pass but was also unable to make
it happen. Natalie kept a one second lead and
held it all the way to the checkered flag making
his dream of making Daytona history a reality.

The
#13 John Natalie Jr launches over the finish
line for the win |
“I am extremely pumped. It’s Daytona, the land
of speed! I knew that getting the holeshot here
was key and Baldwin had everything set up so good,
we just did it! It made my job a lot easier. I
did have to slow down a bit when we got into lap
traffic, but it worked out great today. Mark Baldwin
and Maxxis had me hooked up today and I didn’t
have to work too hard to get that holeshot. I
am first ever to win at Daytona and that’s one
record that can’t be broken. I can’t thank the
Daytona Motorsports enough for giving us this
opportunity. All these guys made the trip down
here and hopefully this is setting a brighter
future for everyone,” said Natalie.
