Reno, NV (8/22/2014) - The longest off-road race in the United States took place on August 15th, the Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno race in Nevada, and it is the third round of the four rounds BITD Racing championship series for the ATV racers.
Even with double points on the line only four Quad Pro teams signed up for the event, which started just before sunrise outside the town of Beatty, Nevada. The Q83 of Cody Mitchell and Colt Brinkerhoff were first off the starting line at just before 6AM.

CT Racing’s Q1 Danny Prather started third, and he found himself eating the dust of Q11’s Honda early in the race, but Joe Ramos and Trent Kendall suffered a flat tire and eventually a major mechanical issue, which took them out of the race. Prather then began his charge after the Q83 team in the lead, and they made the pass for the lead when the Q83 suffered a radiator failure.

Danny Prather and David Scott swapped out about every hour of the race, which kept them both fresh, and they ran a near flawless race to secure the Vegas to Reno win with a time of 10:47:42 after 535 miles of racing.
“The only issue we had the entire race was losing the header bolt off the exhaust, so we had to use bailing wire to keep the pipe on, but it held. The CT Racing engine just ripped, and we went the whole race on a one set of Maxxis tires with Tireballs,” said Prather.

The three time champions, Q1’s Danny Prather
and David Scott, have won all three rounds of
the BITD racing series this year, and have a healthy
points lead heading into the Henderson 250 in
December, as they go after their fourth Best in
the Desert Quad Pro Championship.
