Podium Round 5
Sarah Gildia (3rd), Jami Luburgh (1st), Trea Behrendt (2nd)

For the final two rounds of the series, Jami Luburgh had to race in a borrowed Polaris RZR. Jami and her brother Jason Luburgh had been sharing a car for the entire season, but Jason had an un-repairable mechanical issue during his race in round five, so the team had to borrow a car from one of the Pro-am racers. Despite the issues, that did not stop Jami Luburgh from grabbing the round five holeshot. Luburgh was followed by the 881 car of Sarah Gildea but was able to hold the lead for the entire race and took the round five win with ease.

For round six, Luburgh was in third off the start and began pressuring to move forward. Luckily, for Luburgh, the leader, Trea Behrendt, had a mechanical issue, which allowed Luburgh to make the pass right before the finish line and take the win. Her win was crucial for her to winning the championship as she was tied in points with Cindi Hart and her final win of the season was the tie breaker.

“It’s been a close run all season. Cindi and I were three points apart when we came out here for this last round and somehow, I pulled it off! It’s the most amazing feeling this year. My brother Jason and I came out here as a team and we mainly came out here to have fun. We didn’t really know a lot about SxS racing. I’ve never ran UTV’s before and Jason had never raced them, but we both got the championships and we couldn’t be any happier! This was an awesome event for us and we are really looking forward to next year,” said Jami Luburgh.

Cindi Hart had issues in round five and fell back for a fourth place finish, which allowed Jami Luburgh to tie her in the points standings. For round six, Hart was ready for action, but she did not get the start she was looking for and got off the line in dead last. Hart pushed hard and was able to make the passes she needed to work into position, but began to encounter issues and was unable to make a move on Luburgh for the lead, leaving her to finish in second place and take second in series points.
