Polaris Ranger RZR 570 UTV |
Lac La Belle, MI - Polaris
released their first trail friendly Side-by-Side
in the way of the Ranger RZR 800 back in 2008,
but ever since, Polaris has focused its attention
on expanding the RZR line-up each year with
a more power and / or larger member of the RZR
family, but for 2012, Polaris has switched gears
by adding the RZR 570 SxS to the Ranger model
line-up with an affordable base price of $9,999
MSRP.
Over the past four years, the economy has
taken a dramatic down-turn since the release
of the original RZR 800, and prices have been
on the rise ever since with inflation, which
has limited the buying power of many consumers
looking to jump into the SxS market, so Polaris
is hoping the RZR 570 will be the ticket for
those on a tighter budget.
Based on the Polaris RZR 800, the Polaris
RZR 570 was designed specifically for trail
riding but with a budget in mind. At a narrow
width of just 50 inches wide, it is over 8
inches narrower than most of its larger competitors,
and is just two inches wider than most standard
sport quads. Polaris claims that its new compact
Side-by-Side is agile and powerful, yet offers
a smooth and comfortable ride, so we at ATVRiders.com
jumped at the opportunity to take it for a
spin and see for ourselves at the Polaris
press event in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Polaris invited us to the Keweenaw ATV Club
Trails in Michigan for this particular test
ride. We decided that for this occasion, we
would bring along Pro ATV racer, Beau Baron,
who has been having a lot of success behind
the wheel of our 2012 Polaris RZR XP 900 this
season in the WORCS series with three class
wins under his belt so far this year.

The
leaves were in peak color for our RZR
570 test ride |
In the past, the Keweenaw trail system was primarily
reserved for snowmobilers in the winter, but
for the past several years, the Keweenaw ATV
Club has been working on opening the trail system
to ATV and SxS enthusiast, and with some recent
law changes, they are hopeful to have the trails
open to the public in the next year.
The weather was great for our ride with unseasonably
warm temperatures and sunny skies. There were
plenty of photo opportunities as well with
all of the fall foliage in peak color with
nearly all the trees ablaze in reds, yellows,
and oranges, which made for a beautiful ride.

The Keweenaw
ATV Club laid out nearly 90 mile long
loop for our test ride, but due to
delays with doing photos, the ride
was shortened to just around 60 miles,
which was more than enough time on
the Polaris RZR 570 to get a feel
for it

Our test ride covered about 60 miles of trail
and featured plenty of elevation changes as
we rode along the shores of Lake Superior
to the mountain tops over 700 feet above the
lake. It was a great location to test out
the Polaris RZR 570 as the trails had a little
bit of everything from rocky sections, water
crossings, high speed straight aways, and
tight and twisting trails for a real feel
of how the RZR 570 would perform is various
different kinds of terrain, and with a full
day of riding planned, we had ample time to
give the RZR a thorough work out and test
everything from handling to top speed and
were very pleased with how things went.
