Chad Wienen Interview:
Can-Am / Motoworks Pro ATV Motocross
Chad
Wienen watches the racing action from
the sidelines at Red Bud
ATVriders.com:
Are you disappointed that you lost out on
a possible championship this year? Chad
Wienen: Well,
this has definitely changed my perspective
on a lot of things, but I am really determined
to come back strong next year. I’m not
trying to sound conceited or anything like
that, but I know I have the talent and the
drive to make it happen. I’ve learned
a lot from this experience and I think it
has made me stronger as a person and also
a little smarter in what I do in the future.
ATVriders.com:
Chad, it’s really admirable to see
you keeping such a positive attitude. There
are a lot of people that wouldn’t
be able to bounce back mentally like you
have after such a bad wreck. Chad
Wienen: Racing
professionally is something I have wanted
to do for a very long time and now that
I am at that level where I have a shot at
taking a championship, I’m not going
to give up just because I had one bad crash.
I am still young and I am still going to
be able to go back out there and do whatever
it takes to win.
Chad
Wienen won't be able to ride again
till December or January, but he feels
that he will have plenty of time to
prepare for the 2012 AMA ATV MX Season
ATVriders.com:
How long will it be before you are able to
even think about getting back on a quad? Chad
Wienen:
December or January is what I’m expecting.
I’ve been talking to Bill Ballance about
it because he has went through this as well,
and in fact his injury was a little worse
than mine, and he was back riding after four
months, but I’m going to do what my
doctor tells me. He is a really good and knows
what’s best for me. I don’t want
to go out there too soon and re-injure myself,
but I don’t want to wait too long either.
Everyone says that I’ll know when I’m
ready to ride again, so we will have to wait
and see.
ATVriders.com:
Have you been keeping up on what’s
going on at the races? Chad
Wienen:
Oh yeah! My mechanic, Ryan Cox, has been
keeping me updated. I really have to give
a big congrats to Joel Hetrick for taking
the win at Unadilla. To get an overall like
that in his first Pro season is really awesome.
Can-Am's
#13 John Natalie claimed the win at
Red Bud, which extended his points
lead over #20 Josh Upperman, but points
race is far from over & anything
could happen at Loretta Lynn's, so
it should be an exciting race
ATVriders.com:
So now that you’re watching from the
sidelines, who is your favorite for the championship? Chad
Wienen: Well,
I definitely have to support my teammate,
John Natalie, but you can’t count Josh
Upperman out either. What I would really like
to see is some good racing that comes down
to the last round and see whoever the best
racer is at the end of the season, take the
championship.
ATVriders.com:
So what is your plan for next season? Chad
Wienen:
Well, I plan to come back stronger, and
I am hoping to be on the same program, or
close to it, and win a championship!
ATVriders.com:
Chad, it’s been a pleasure talking
to you as usual and it’s great to
hear your recovery is going so well. Good
luck in the next few months! Chad
Wienen:
Thank you.
