Guetter
Brothers Akraix ATV Freestyle Team
::Continued::
It’s after the event where BRP / CanAm
comes to play its biggest role and that is from
support they offer to this team. If there is an
issue you need good, reliable and fast support.
One of the things I found out was that the fans
sometimes ask why the DS450, and they seem to
think it will break more then other brands. Jon
stated that he quickly informs those people of
how many frames he has gone through on other models
and there was no support if the worse did happen.
That support has been there ten fold, even when
tragedy struck and their entire rig was stolen
from a show, the machines they need to perform
on where quickly replaced and they were back in
business, it just doesn’t get much better
then that!

So we know that they have some great sponsors,
have great people skills and their freestyle tricks
have them at the top of the food chain in this
particular discipline of riding, but what does
it take to keep things going week after week?
When the crew, all two of them, pack up the ramp
and head out on the road, it comes down to teamwork.
For the run to the east coast, a 17 hour run would
be made as the pair passed off driving duties.
Arriving in the mountains of Pennsylvania and
ready to rip, they faced Mother Nature’s
wrath as rain and mist set the stage for what
would be two days of sitting and watching the
event unfold around them.
Always optimistic, Derek quickly looked after
the set up of the ramp and the all important landing
that needed to be constructed. There is as much
math and science that goes into this then most
would consider. In between breaks from the construction,
fans would show up and the questions began.

The Akraix
team have landed a gem of a sponsor when
they rolled out with Can Am/BRP backing.
The DS450 ATV would serve as the model
to be shown to hundreds of thousands of
fans each year & be captured in the
hours of video & countless photographs
of them in action.

Now considering this was mainly a trail riding
event, many of the people in line had no clue
who these guys were. They did not know Jon had
back flipped an ATV over a moving train for the
Discovery channel, or that he was invited to join
the Crusty Demons of Dirt worldwide tour. Many
did not know much of anything about freestyle
and when they did it was related to the bike riders.
This wasn’t any big deal for the Guetters’
who chatted non stop with folks for 2 straight
days all the while with a big smile and always
an open hand to anyone who just couldn’t
resist asking what they were all about.
