Alaska Backcountry Adventure Ride

Alaska Backcountry Adventure Ride
::Continued::

The trail we took was a fairly easy trail with just a few rocks and roots, which would be very easy even for beginners. The first location we stopped at was along a lake where we saw several varieties of waterfowl and beautiful mountain views.

We were also fortunate enough that our timing was perfect for seeing the salmon spawning. There were thousands of them in all stages of maturity. “To see all this wildlife really added to our trip,” said Mankins.

After our stop at the lake we headed farther up the trail, about a mile and hiked up a small knoll where we had a beautiful overlook of three different lakes and the Knik Glacier. One thing that added to the beauty of this trip was that since it was later in the season, the sun never really gets high in the sky and just kind of rolls across the southern hemisphere, which gives off amazing golden hues and long shadows.
