After stuffing ourselves, it was time to head across the street to Ruby’s ATV Tours to meet up with Shiloh Syrett, who is the grandson of Rubin Syrett, and runs the ATV / SxS tours. Ruby’s offers two different tour options with a one hour long Bryce Canyon Rim Tour and a three hour long Paunsaugunt Plateau Tour through the Dixie National Forest.

Ruby’s one hour rim ATV / SxS tour, is a unique experience because they are the only ones that has property that borders the Bryce Canyon NP along the eastern rim, so it provides guest a unique experience of driving an all terrain vehicle to the edge of the canyon for a breath taking view of the hoodoos and valley floor.

“We started our ATV rentals back in 2004 and I have been running that part of it since 2006. We have about 1500-2000 people we rent ATV’s to each season. We have 13 2-up ATV’s, 8 Polaris Rangers, and a couple of bigger UTVs” stated Shiloh Syrett.

The busiest time of year is summer of course and with prices being fairly reasonable at $45.00 per hour per driver and $15 per hour per passenger, for the one hour tour and $115 and $40 for the three hour tour, you may have to wait a while to get your turn.

However, if you do not wish to wait to rent an ATV or Side-by-Side vehicle, you can bring your own, as long as it complies with Utah state laws, as Ruby’s Inn also offers camping and RV camping that has ridable access to the trail heads. If you choose to explore on your own, there are OAC trail maps available for $5 that have all the main points marked and are easy to use. We picked up a map before we headed out on our journey that started on the resort’s three hour trail.

The 3 hour ATV & SxS / UTV Tour takes you through the Dixie National Forest on the Pausaugunt Plateau then to the Tropic Reservoir

The three hour ATV / SxS tour route goes through the Dixie National Forrest on Paunsaugunt Plateau and heads out to the Tropic Reservoir before circling back around to Ruby’s.  The tour provides some spectacular scenery from wide open fields to pine tree forest with red rock formations and hoodoos, which are awe inspiring.  Also, the 3 hour tour provides some great opportunities to see plenty of wildlife with prong horn, elk, prairie dogs, and mule deer commonly spotted on the ride, so if you have the time, this is a great trail ride for the entire family
