Colby & Dusty Kostman: History of C&D
Racing Service & Parts
::Continued::
ATVriders.com:
Many of the new quads come with some really nice
OEMs shock already, but they are setup for a general
riding audience, are you able to rebuild these
shocks as well for your customers?
Colby Kostman:
Most of the factory shocks that come on performance
ATVs today are pretty good shocks, and yes, they
are just setup really generic. We offer quite
a few options for these shocks. We have multi
rate spring kits available for trail riders as
well as racers. We remove the restrictive factory
valve body pistons and replace them with CNC machined
high flow pistons and install rider specific multi
stage valving. On most of the shocks we can lengthen
the stroke thus increasing the travel. We are
always working on new and innovative suspension
products to meet the needs of our customers.

With
the quantity of shocks that C&D Racing
reworks the number of used springs really
piles up fast. Some of the springs can be
used for testing and others are just scrap

All
the stock shocks revalved receive high flow
CNC machined pistons. These high flow pistons
add to the performance of their shock converses
& eliminate the spike in damping caused
by the restrictive factory piston on the

When
C&D Racing has a need for a special
part that is not available they has it made.
This is a special inline cooler that they
have made to eliminate the overheating problem
they have experienced with Polaris Outlaws |
ATVriders.com:
I see a lot of products on your race team ATV’s
that I have not seen before tell us about some of
them
Colby Kostman:
Some of the products we use are
things we have developed in conjunction with Glann
Innovations to make existing products better. We
have taken a single sided stainless steel sprocket
guard from Lone Star and had them machined to fit
on both sides of the sprocket. Without a rear skid
plate the chain has no guide to keep it aligned
so we had a rear guide designed to work with the
dual sprocket guard. We have been using a plastic
material that is heated up and molded in between
the swing arm and the Lone Star rotor guard to better
support it. I have been racing a Polaris Outlaw
for the last year and have developed some products
for it as well, one of which is a specially shaped
inline cooler to address the over heating issue
we were having. C&D Racing has being working
with Glann Innovations for a few years and have
been testing there products and having them custom
make products for us.
ATVriders.com:
It has been great spending some time here and
learning more about C&D Racing. It is interesting
to see all the things you sell and the services
that you can provide to your customers.
Colby Kostman:
Thanks stopping by, and we would
like to thank ATVriders.com for all their support
over the years. This website has allowed us to
meet so many great people and build lasting relationships
with customers that we have never even met in
person.
