Drag Racing, Mud Bogs, even a climbing wall sponsored
by the Army would give folks a break from the
typical trail riding for the weekend. Watching
as riders entered town and cruised in showed quickly
that the trails can tire you if you aren’t
used to miles upon miles of endless trails. Trails
are marked well and a trail map is essential especially
for the first timers. Many folks I spoke with
exclaimed that they had never been on a trail
that lasted hours and had new sights and experiences
awaiting them around each turn. Young and old
alike were finding out just how much fun riding
this region can be.
Heading out of town from one of the
many trail heads, you soon find yourself running
deeper into the mountains as you vacate civilization.
Trails are rated for 15 mph but that doesn’t
mean most can’t find plenty of excitement
along the rail and at many of the open areas that
have turned into rest stops. Safety is paramount
so caution is required as you rip along two way
trail traffic. The addition of SxS’s has
opened up the width of the trails in many stretches
and posed no issues that we could see. In fact,
cruising Hatfield in a SxS might just be the ticket
to get an entirely new crowd showing up to support
the system! Several trails are marked for no SxS
use due to the width. Black trails are the toughest
and if you dare to brave them, make sure you have
some friends along with a winch!

TrailFest
freatured trail riding, drag racing, and
mud bogs. The Hatfield McCoy trails has
recently added SxS's to it's trails, which
has now opened up the width of some trails,
making two way traffic much easier

Some of the
trails lasted for hours, but with some
good markers and a map, first timers are
easily able to make it through the ride
just fine. Black trails are the toughest,
just make sure to bring a winch along!
