2014 Kawasaki Mule 610 4x4 Introduction

Versatility, strength and reliability come in a compact package with the Kawasaki Mule 610 4x4 side x side. While sharing all of the rugged features of the Mule 600, this Mule adds selectable four-wheel drive, making it able to tackle more tricky terrain, and increasing its value to anyone working far off the beaten trail. And since it conveniently fits into the bed of a full-sized pickup, transporting this tough Mule to the trailhead has never been easier.

The Mule 610 4x4’s practical powertrain couples a dependable single-cylinder four-stroke engine to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with enough torque to tow over half a ton. A super-strong, large-diameter steel tube frame surrounds the Mule’s tough mechanical heart and rests atop an independent front suspension and a swing-axle rear suspension. Cabin comforts including a dashboard-mounted gear selector, automotive-inspired controls, large dual cup holders, and a glove box, handle whoever may be lucky enough to come along. Additional storage space can be found under the convenient hinged front hood.

Rough environments are the norm for the Mule 610 4x4 as its power derives from a durable air-cooled, single-cylinder 401cc four-stroke engine that maintains its cool with the help of an efficient cooling fan.  Easy ignition is provided by an enrichening system that partially opens the throttle while starting. Such effortless starts can occur in either forward or reverse gear when the brake is applied.

Owners will appreciate knowing that the Mule 610 4x4’s efficient and durable CVT comes with a long-lasting drive belt coupled with a dependable, low-maintenance shaft drive to best deliver the engine’s power and get it out of slippery situations. Perhaps the most useful aspect of the Mule 610 4x4 is the selectable four-wheel drive system that makes this vehicle virtually unstoppable thanks to the high- and low-range forward and reverse gears. A lockable dual-mode rear differential and a limited-slip front differential expand its traction abilities in adverse terrain.

The Mule 610 4x4 rides on a MacPherson strut front suspension, while rear suspension duties are handled by a unit swing-axle. All four wheels host triple-sealed hydraulic drum brakes which provide ample stopping power and large 24-inch tires provide improved off-road handling. A front differential/axle guard, rear differential guard and rear wheel mud flaps help deflect debris and mud that might otherwise damage or clog powertrain components.

Bright 35-watt headlights mean the job can start before sunrise or continue after sunset. Increasing its work versatility is the 400-pound-capacity cargo bed that features secure, easy to fasten tailgate latches. The Mule 610 4x4 can tow up to 1,100 pounds with an optional Kawasaki trailer hitch installed. Popular accessories include an enclosed cab, snow plow, winch and soft or hard tops. These and many other Genuine Kawasaki Accessories are available through Kawasaki dealers.
