"Polaris focused on updating
some key models in our ATV line up for 2010,"
said Matt Homan, vice president and general
manager of Polaris' Off-Road Division. "By
coupling the award-winning Sportsman XP features
with the best-selling line of 2-Ups and introducing
the Sportsman 500 H.O. Touring, we have created

Polaris Sportsman XP 850 ATV
|
Introduced in 2009, the Sportsman 550 and
850 XP were 99 percent new, except for the
shift knob, and took Sportsman's power and
ride to the next level. With engine upgrades
such as an 850cc, twin EFI engine that churns
out 70 horsepower that made it the most-powerful
stock ATV in the world; and a 549cc single
EFI engine delivering 42 horsepower, these
were the most powerful and smoothest riding
Sportsman ever built. Featured upgrades included
vertically-mounted engines for improved ergonomics,
exclusive anti-kickback steering and available
electronic power steering, coupled with all
the features that made the hardest working,
smoothest riding Sportsman line legendary,
the Sportsman XP models took the industry
by storm.

New 2010
Polaris 550 X2 2-UP ATV
|
For 2010, Polaris has added
the Sportsman XP features to their 2-Up line
by offering the Sportsman 850 and 550 Touring,
and the Sportsman 550 X2. To complete the 2-Up
line up, Polaris leveraged the best-selling
automatic platform of all-time and is offering
the Sportsman 500 H.O. Touring with the original
styling for the value-conscious consumer.
Along with new engines, chassis,
styling, ergonomics and dual A-arm front suspension,
the most-comfortable Touring models are even
more comfortable with the addition of electronic
power steering and a new passenger seat with
a comfort ride seat suspension. To assist the
rider in rough terrain, Polaris outfitted the
2010 Touring models with the company's exclusive
electronic power steering system.

The Polaris system offers variable
assist which provides the most steering assistance
at slow speeds and more positive feedback and
confidence at high speeds. Coupling the electronic
power steering with Polaris' exclusive anti-kickback
steering, which features longer control arms
and the largest wheels enabling the steering
pivot of each axle to be moved to the most-central
and neutral part of the tire, the Touring models
have superior ride and handling making them
the most comfortable 2-Up ATVs on the market.
Along with having more room than
the competition, a large passenger seat, vibration
absorbing hand holds and adjustable vibration-absorbing
footrests, the 2010 Touring models feature a
passenger seat with an individual shock to dampen
trail feedback making an even smoother ride
for the passenger.

Polaris Touring ATV's keep your Beverages
tight and secure
|
Polaris did not only think about the rider and
passenger for the Touring models, but also their
beverages. When the trails get rough, drinks
now can be strapped into the exclusive dual
cup holders with tensioned beverage holders.
The Touring units will continue
to offer the hardest working, smoothest riding
features that helped the Sportsman 800 Touring
become " ATV of the Year" in 2008. These features
include Rolled Independent Rear Suspension with
10 in/25.4 cm of travel, Engine Braking with
Active Descent Control for four-wheel braking
and better control on inclines and True On-
Demand All-Wheel Drive, the easiest and fastest-responding
AWD system available.
The Sportsman X2, with its fold-down
second seat and cargo box, is the most-versatile
ATV on the market. For 2010, the addition of the
Sportsman XP features adds even more versatility
and work capabilities to the revolutionary ATV.
The 42-horsepower, 550cc engine with its roller
driven clutch to provide smooth, faster clutch
response and a " Low" gear with speeds
up to 39 mph, makes the Sportsman 550 X2 an even
more able work partner. Its exclusive antikickback
steering with longer control arms, industry's
largest wheels and lower-profile tires deliver
the most-positive, precise steering, resulting
in less rider fatigue during work applications
and on the trail. For sensitive terrains, such
as lawns, the Sportsman 550 X2 offers VersaTrac,
a one-wheel, locking rear differential for a tighter
turning radius and less damage to grass. The improved
ergonomics include a narrow seat design with more
knee room for easier rider maneuverability when
hauling loads or driving on the trail. Sportsman
550 X2 passengers also will enjoy more passenger
room than competitive models, and both rider and
passenger will benefit from larger floor boards
with more mud protection
