Minneapolis, MN (7/27/2010) - The
Polaris youth line continues to be best-selling
and a leader in rider safety. For 2011, Polaris
is offering five youth models that fit into
the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America’s
(SVIA) Youth ATV categories; the Phoenix 200,
RANGER RZR 170, Sportsman 90, Outlaw 90 and
Outlaw 50.
For the T-14+ age group, Polaris will offer
the Phoenix 200. This easy-to-use quad is
a favorite for beginner riders. Its larger
chassis can complement the riders in this
age group better than the 90cc units and will
be speed limited to 20 mph/32.2 kph as delivered,
30 mph/48.3 kph intermediate, 38 mph/61.2
kph unrestricted. The 20 mph/32.2 kph and
30 mph/48.3 kph speeds also are throttle limited.
Also for the T-14+ group, Polaris will offer
a Big Wheel Kit for the RANGER RZR 170. The
kit provides bigger aluminum wheels, larger
tires, different sprocket and chain for increased
speed (up to 38 mph/61.2 kph), skid plate,
T-14 warning decals, and a 25 percent increase
in ground clearance to 7.5 in/19.1 cm.
Y-12+ riders will have three models to choose
from: the RANGER RZR 170,
Sportsman 90 and Outlaw 90. The Y-6+ age group
will have the Outlaw 50, which
is lead compliant for 2011, even if the current
CPSC “stay” expires.
The RANGER RZR 170, Sportsman 90, Outlaw
90 and Outlaw 50 will continue to include
a wide variety of safety features such as
speed controls enabling adults to set a maximum
speed control limit. Other safety features
include daytime running lights to increase
daytime visibility, full floorboards and heat
shields. The RANGER RZR 170 will continue
to have seatbelts, color-coded pedals, parking
brake and side nets.
All youth models purchased from an authorized
dealer come with a high visibility
whip flag, speed limiter and safety video.
Accompanied with these models is a
DOT-approved helmet (two for RANGER RZR 170)
to teach kids the importance
of wearing the proper safety gear. In the
U.S., dealers provide safety training for
parents and rider with every purchase.
Polaris Youth models not only lead the way
with safety features but are easy-to use and
fun to ride.
