Tim Farr Along-side

Amherst, OH (6/11/2007) -
Tim Farr arrived in Greenbrier, Arkansas for the
opening round of the Extreme Dirt Track Series
on Friday, the same day that KTM officially announced
their upcoming release of their new Sport ATV.
The eleven-time Pro ATV Champion, Tim Farr, has
teamed up with KTM to assist in development and
testing of the new Sport ATV. Farr will compete
in select events including the ATVA Extreme Dirt
Track Series and GNCC series. Spectators and racers
alike swarmed Farr’s pit area throughout
the weekend to get a glimpse of the new KTM.
Twin Creeks Raceway offered the riders option
lanes in two different sections of the track
to encourage passing. This has always made for
exciting racing as the two lanes merge back
into one. The crowd is never quite sure which
rider will come out in front. Lapped riders
throughout the race have also made lane choice
crucial and the split second decision can make
or break your night.
Farr, the reigning EDT Pro Champion, was not
able to defend his title in the Pro class as
the ATV will not be released until this fall.
AMA/ATVA rules for production class racing state
that the ATV must be available to the general
public in order to compete. Farr did compete
in the Pro-Am Unlimited class. Farr started
the night off strong with a dominating holeshot
and win in his heat race.

When the lights turned green for the main event,
Houston Louder got the early jump off the line
and edged Farr out for the holeshot. Farr pressured
Louder for several laps before several riders
were involved in a crash near the finish line
that caused the race to be stopped for a short
period of time. The riders were lined back up
in a single file lane based upon their position
on the last complete lap of the race. Farr’s
experience took over as the light turned green
for the second time as Farr grabbed the lead on
the inside of Louder going into the first sweeper.
Louder was not going to give up easy and tried
to hang with Farr on the outside line until his
front tire made contact with Farr’s nerf
bar which sent him into a spin. The rub allowed
now second place, Josh Carter, to catch up. Farr
rode strong for the remainder of the race and
the new KTM ATV took the checkered flag for the
win in its first race ever.
“I am proud to have helped KTM earn its
first ATV win on its first try. I know it has
turned a lot of heads this weekend”, said
Farr following the race. “This is another
exciting chapter in my race career.”
