Tempe, AZ (9/18/2014) - Matt Hancock is the Pro-Am points leader heading into the final round of the 2014 WORCS Racing Series after finishing third in round eight at Glen Helen.

The hot weather that was present for the weekend was brutal and put riders and their machines to the test, but that wasn’t the only difficulty of the weekend. For the Pro-Am main event, it was decided that the Pro-Am class would line up with the Pro class and start together, which made the start a bit more challenging. Additionally, a course routing issue also snarled traffic just after the start causing several riders to fall back, but Matt Hancock was able to overcome the challenges and finish on the Pro-Am podium.

Hancock was in fourth off the start and kept pushing forward despite the incredible temperature of over 111 on the track.

“I’m pretty excited with third especially after how this weekend went. I knew what I had to do, and my Elka suspension and Maxxis tires with Tire Blocks worked great. The heat was brutal, so I just went out there and did the best I could. I have the points lead now since Mike Sloan took a DNF, so I am hoping to head to Primm and take the championship,” said Hancock.

In the SxS 1000 class, Matt Hancock grabbed the holeshot and started to put a gap between himself and the rest of the pack.

“I got a great holeshot. My Maxxis tires hooked up and I tried to get a good gap in case anything happened out there,” said Hancock.

Unfortunately, Hancock’s lead would not last as an electrical issue slowed his efforts and caused him to fall back to a seventh place finish. Hancock is still within striking distance of the championship with just a ten point deficit.

“I’m only ten points behind, so I am hoping luck is on our side at the last round,” said Hancock.

The final round of the 2014 WORCS Racing Series will head to Buffalo Bill’s Resort in Primm, NV on October 17-19, where Matt Hancock will be looking to secure several championships.
