Race Report - Briarcliff MX

Ronnie Higgerson had a solid first moto. He came off the line in fourth place, and he held the position the entire moto for a fourth place. For moto two, Higgerson had a better start and took over the lead shortly into the first lap. Higgerson led for four laps before a mistake sent him back to fourth place and Cam Covil took over as leader. Higgerson fought his way back while Covil fell back to third, where the pair battled it out. In the final lap, Higgerson and Covil came together; this resulted in Covil crashing, while Higgerson finished in third for third overall.

“It’s great to be up on the box again. I have the points lead in Pro-am so my goal there is to stay there. In the second moto, I got out front and was leading, and I ended up hitting a rut and a couple of guys got around me. I made it back into third and I got together with Cam Covil and it took him out. I feel really bad about it, and I hope he’s ok,” said Higgerson.
Unfortunately for Cam Covil, he injured his back, and he will also be out for the rest of the season, and we also wish him a full recovery because he really turned some heads this year in his Pro-Am debut.

In the Women’s class, Katie Mette took her first overall win of the season. Mette was in second off the start and took over the lead in lap two. She held her position for two laps before Megan Manshack challenged and made the pass. Mette held on for a second place finish in the first moto.
