– After a wet and shortened weekend of motocross
racing at the season opener, Round 2 at Underground
MX in Kemp, Texas proved to be a great weekend
for AMA ATV Motocross racing, and racers of all
ages made the trip to Texas, and there was some
great battles among the future of the sport in
the young ranks.
Root River Racings’ #100 Noah Mickelson dominated
both of his classes, leading from start to finish
in both motos. Youth All Star (13-15) and Schoolboy
Sr (13-15) bringing home a solid first place podium
finish in both classes. “I was a little disappointed
that I didn’t get the win at round one, but I
got it this time and I just want to keep moving
forward from here,” said Mickelson.

The Youth All Star points leader, Peyton Zimmerman,
finished in the second spot at Underground MX,
but he did claim the win in the Super Mini (12-15)
class, which has him holding down the points lead
in both classes.

The flying Texan, #44 Bryce Ford, from Springtown,
TX finished second overall in the Super Mini (12-15)
class after taking the moto one win, but he finished
sixth in moto two, which now has him tied for
the points lead with Peyton Zimmerman. Ford claimed
the 90 Shifter (12-15) class win to extend his
points lead, and he finished fourth in the 90
Open Sr (12-15) class where he is currently second
the points championship race.

Root River Racing’s Brandon O’Neill of Baldwin,
MD clinched his first win of the season in the
90 Open Sr. race. He was very excited for his
first win going 2-1, which boosted him into the
points lead ahead Bryce Ford. “I didn’t get the
best start in the first moto. I was fourth on
the holeshot but caught up for second. For the
second moto I was in third off the start, and
I was able to make the pass for the win. I’m really
excited to get my first win of the season, and
I’m hoping I can get a few more,” said O’Neill.
