                                Walnut,
                              IL – Foul weather
and mud once again wreaked havoc at the AMA ATV
Motocross Nationals, which were held at Sunset Ridge
MX Park. The inclement conditions caused portions
of the track to be cut and the race reduced to a
one-moto format where the winner would take all.
Polaris made their Nationals debut in hopes of taking
the win, but they were no match for Suzuki’s
Dustin Wimmer as he went on to take his 3rd win
                              of the season.

                                  | The
Pro Pits were once again packed tight with
factory rigs with 30 Pro riders signing
up for the event, but beyond the Pros their
was nearly 700 race entries for the weekend,
and fortunately they were treated to perfect
conditions on Saturday for racers and spectators |
Saturday’s qualifiers saw much better conditions
and even a little dust on the track. Dustin Wimmer
threw down the fastest lap time in qualifiers with
a 00:01:51 time. There were 30 pros that showed
up to race including Brock Lyons and Rich Stambach
making their debut on their new factory Polaris
Outlaw 450MXR rides. Jason Dunkelberger would go
down hard in the pro section, which sent him to
the LCQ along 13 other Pro ATV racers with only
4 advancing to the Pro Main on Sunday.

As the gate dropped for the 4 lap LCQ, it was Polaris
Outlaw mounted Brock Lyons who grabbed the Holeshot
followed closely by Cody Miller, Josh Upperman,
and Jason Dunkelberger. By the 2nd lap, Upperman
took over the lead and checked out on the rest of
the field. Miller was running in the 2nd spot till
his seat fell off and dropped back to the 4th spot,
which was the last transfer spot to the main. Lyons
held onto the 2nd spot with Dunk and Miller bumper
to bumper at the finish line. Unfortunately for
Thomas Hager, he finished in the 5th spot and was
the first rider not to advance to the big show.
