Between
Motos, the Pro Pits was packed with spectators
lined up for an autograph, but with the
economy in a down turn and the rising cost
of fuel, Joe Byrd, was one of the first
racers to take a hit. His rig sponsor, Weekend
Warrior, needed to recall his race trailer
as they reclaim all their assets and restructure
due to a dramatic decline in camper &
hauler sales, and if the price of fuel continues
to rise, more racers & teams will be
affected, which may change the face of the
Nationals come next year with lower attendance
and smaller vehicles
|
As racers were lining up for moto two, the skies
began to darken as a storm system approached,
which would bring heavy rain showers that would
have a big impact on the moto two results.

Suzuki's
Doug Gust grabbed a rare 2nd Moto ATVriders.com
Holeshot Award as he edged out Harold Goodman
& John Natalie Jr |
When the gate dropped, it was Doug Gust who grabbed
the holeshot with teammate Dustin Wimmer right
on his heals. The pair of Suzuki’s was followed
by Keith Little, Jeremy Lawson, Harold Goodman
and Rocco Arno, Jr. with Josh Creamer back in
8th off the line. “I spun coming off the
gate and didn’t get the start I wanted so
I knew I really had to push it to get back up
there,” said Josh.

With
Doug Gust & Dustin Wimmer battling for
the lead, Keith Little held the 3rd spot
for several laps before Jeremy Lawson made
the pass to take over the position |
John
Natalie took a tumble in lap one, which
had him flying in lap two recording the
fastest laptime of 1:45:496, which was nearly
a second faster than anyone else |
Gust and Wimmer continued to run close, with Wimmer
just waiting for a chance to get by Gust, but Digger
Doug continued to hold him off. Jeremy Lawson wasn’t
about to settle in 4th place and began to apply
the pressure to Little, but Lawson was under pressure
himself from Josh Creamer who was hungry for another
win. Lawson and Creamer were able to overtake Little
in lap five and began to gain ground on Wimmer and
Gust.

Suzuki's
Chad Wienen was off to a slow start back
in 13th, but he was on the move as he quickly
worked his way into the top 10 to challenge
Joe Byrd |
Yamaha's
Pat Brown was hoping for a big come back,
but his bad luck continued as he struggled
at the rear of the pack despite Bill Ballance
making the trip to the race |
