Oak Hill MX
- Pro Moto One
By race time, the track was in nearly perfect condition,
which didn’t seem possible on Saturday morning.
Points leader, John Natalie Jr. had the first gate pick,
and he used it to his advantage as he secured the ATVriders.com
Holeshot Award by barely edging out Harold Goodman and
Joe Byrd out of turn one. Heading into the turn two, Harold
Goodman and Dustin Wimmer collided while battling for
second, which sent Goodman flipping and left Wimmer with
a split front brake line. Byrd moved into second followed
by Lawson, Wimmer, and Gust.

By the end of the first lap, Natalie maintained the
lead as the top five remained the same with Chad Wienen
closing in as he worked his way up to sixth place after
passing Pat Brown. Keith Little had two get offs in
the first lap with one in the whoops and another just
before the finish line, which sent him to back of the
pack just ahead of the Goodman

By the fourth lap, Wienen charged his way passed Byrd
and into second place and recording the fastest Pro
lap-time along the way, but his charge would quickly
be slowed when a false move sent him tumbling the next
lap and dropping back to sixth place.
Two laps later, Natalie’s lead would disappear
as his Honda came to a stop on the track, which left
him as spectator for the remaining three laps of the
race, and it opened the door for Byrd to take over the
lead with Lawson apply the pressure to Byrd.
Meanwhile, Wienen was move back into the top three
after re-passing both Wimmer and Gust in just two laps
after his get-off, but that would be the extent of his
charge to the front as Byrd and Lawson were out of reach
as they battled for the lead.
By the final lap of the race, only half the field was
on the lead lap with numerous riders going down or experiencing
issues during the race as the track was extremely physically
demanding and taking its toll on riders and their machine.
John Ragon was on the move running in seventh when his
battery wire melted, which dropped him out the race.
Brock Lyons would get hung up on a berm for several
minutes. Pat Brown head pipe cracked, and he stalled
his Yamaha, but he still managed to hold onto seventh
place ahead of Rocco Arno Jr making his 2007 racing
debut.
