Oak Hill MX
- Pro Moto Two
For the start of Moto Two, there would be one additional
open spots on the starting gate with Harold Goodman sitting
out of the race with a badly bruised hip from his first
Moto crash. With the Win, Joe Byrd had the first gate
pick, but when the gate dropped, it would be Suzuki’s
Dustin Wimmer grabbing the ATVriders.com Holeshot Award
followed by Little, Lawson, Gust, and Byrd.

Unlike the first Moto, John Natalie Jr would start
dead last with Justin Bush, and before the end of lap
one, Bush was out of the race and Natalie Jr’s
would be out of the race as well after only two laps
with mechanical issues.
Meanwhile, Chad Wienen was a mission as he charged
past Dustin Wimmer through the whoops like he was sitting
still and quickly began to pull away from everyone like
he was in a totally different league. In the second
lap, Chad recorded a 2:10.256 laptime, which was nearly
FIVE seconds faster than the any other rider that lap.
The next lap, Wimmer and Wienen recorded nearly identical
laptimes at 2:13, but Wienen would turn up the wick
again and leave Wimmer nearly ten seconds behind him
by the sixth lap.
Joe Byrd was running strong in third and gradually
picking up his speed with every passing lap and gaining
on Wimmer as Gust and Lawson were battling for the fourth
spot followed by Brown, Little, Shumaker, Arno Jr, and
Ragon rounding out the top ten.
By the seventh lap, Wimmer began to fade slightly,
which gave Byrd the opportunity to make the pass and
take over the second spot with nearly 15 seconds separating
him from Wienen out front in the lead, but smoke was
beginning to billow out from under Wienen’s ATV
with just three laps remaining.

With the white flag daggling and waiting for Wienen
to cross the finish line for the last lap, his Honda
locked up from a cracked engine case, which drained
out all the engine oil. Wienen leaned over the bars
and clutched his helmet in disbelief that once again
he was left sidelined after an incredible charge to
the front and on his way to a Podium finish.
By default, Byrd would take over the lead, and put
it in cruise control to the checked flag to secure his
fourth consecutive Moto win for 2007, and another overall
win. Lawson would close the gap on Wimmer, and held
his position in third to secure 2nd Overall with Dustin
Wimmer earning the final spot on the Podium with his
second place finish.
The win by Joe Byrd boosting him into the points lead
(123) with a 10 point lead over Jeremy Lawson (113)
in second followed by Doug Gust in third with 96 points,
and Natalie dropping out of the lead and back to 6th
place tied with Wienen one point behind Little.
The series heads back east to Georgia for round 4 at
Echeconnee Off-Road Park on April 14-15, which has been
voted on as the best track in the series, so it will
most likely attract the largest turnout of the year,
which should provide for some exciting racing action.
