2009 Best in the Desert ATV
Racing Season Wrap-Up Report
::Continued::
The team of Craig Christy and GNCC racer Andy
Lagzdins had a good season, taking three wins,
which was enough to give them the 2009 Quad Expert
Championship. The Christy team took a comfortable
win at the first Parker 250 round, and then repeated
that success at the Bluewater Gran Prix.

At the Vegas to Reno round the team ran into
a few technical difficulties, but still managed
to finish and keep their points lead. Another
win was at hand for the Silver State 300 and then
in the final round, the tam would claim a second
place class finish and seal the 2009 Quad Expert
Championship. Unfortunately for Craig Christy
and his crew, it looks as if they also will not
be returning to the BITD series for 2010.

Although all of the teams greatly enjoy desert
racing, there will be a couple that will not be
returning for the 2010 BITD season. As is well
known, the desert races are expensive to run,
but the payout for winning does not even come
close to what it costs these racers to dedicate
machines and their time to racing a full season
of the BITD series, not mention travel, race fees,
and other miscellaneous expenses. “I really
like racing the BITD series, but I just can’t
afford to do it any more and it’s a shame
because it is a well run and well organized series,”
said Matlock who will be concentrating his team’s
efforts on the SCORE series races for 2010.
